Thinkin' Lincoln: A Roundup
Last week, Neil Young showcased Linc-Volt at the Dreamforce Conference in San Francisco, CA.
When the conference announcement was made earlier, many of us were trying to figure out why a conference for sales software? It turns out that Salesforce.com software is powering Linc-Volt's on-board systems.
A new website has debuted at http://lincvolt.force.com/ which tracks all of Linc-Volt's vital signs. Also, see the site Mileage Quest.
Here's a ABC News report.
The LincVolt webpage update is State of Lincvolt7. As B.S.M. notes, the update uses "Mustang" as a soundtrack. Consider this an Archives preview. Very cool Shakey Pix!
Webcast of LincVolt presentation with Neil at Dreamforce LincVolt webcast. Select dropdown menu and go to "Marc Benioff/Neil Young/closing". This is EXCELLENT.
Here's a blog of Neil's drive to Shoreline for the Bridge concert.
Neil Young Works to Make a Lincoln Continental Run on Clean Fuel - NYTimes.com
At the Sun Microsystems campus in Menlo Park, CA., Neil Young shows James Gosling, the father of Java technology, the Linc Volt - a classic 1959 Lincoln Continental Mk IV re-powered with a new series-hybrid system that runs on electricity produced by a natural gas generator. For the past 14 months, Young has been working on Linc Volt (http://www.lincvolt.com/), his entry into the X Automotive PRIZE (http://www.progressiveautoxprize.org/). The Linc Volt features installed sensors, which are powered by Java technology from Sun Microsystems, that monitor the performance of the Linc Volt and display the data on a touch-screen panel in the car. Visit http://java.com to learn more on how Java technology is helping to revolutionize the way we look at cars through the Linc Volt project.

Driving mother nature's silver seed to a new place. Thanks Neil!
"Here's Neil's drive to Shoreline for the Bridge concert." The link posted above by Thrasher goes to mileagequest.com. That's great, but here's another link on the same subject that needs some attention:

Think of it: This is a video clip of a "surfing shadows song" that comes to us 44 or 45 years after it the song had been written!!! Mustang!!! B.S.M.
When I heard he was doing this, the first thing that came to mind was finally we have a technology for converting all those vans transporting our family and friends who rely on wheelchairs for mobility.
We've been driving a Mariner hybrid after feeling guilty about leaving our own carbon footprint from driving our beloved 95 automatic transmission Suburban which got at least 3-4 mpg more than the Dodge Ram we had before transporting 3 kids, a dog, 2 adults, wheelchair, and related adaptions.
The Mariner is small and not convenient for our family size but I'm getting 30 mpg. The only thing missing are marshmallows and sticks because we are so compacted, I feel like we're squeezed at a campfire when we're driving at night.
So I guess my point is that I look forward to the genius who is able to bring this technology into the mainstream auto industry for families and friends who need it to convert their vans to transport their wheelchairs. And maybe even give my 95 Chevy Suburban a new life ...
One great leap for Neil, one small step for mother earth in the right direction!
Isn't Neil getting fat?
Here's the thing about Neil. It's never been about "him" as in the physical sense. Ya know?
It's always been about his psyche, the muse, his alter egos, and other untangibles associated with his genius.
If you're looking for somebody who is caving into today's industry standard of botox injections and liposuction, than you need to move on to a different blog ...
Thanks Mother Nature on the 5k Run! You nailed it.
Also, if you've been paying attention? He's had quite a few set-backs these last few years...and in fact has lost some of the weight he had gained by getting fitter for the current tour. But, isn't everyone who has worked so long and done so much entitled to look and do whatever they like? I know I do what I like :o)
Neil has always done what he wanted and cares even less about fufilling the industry standard of by looking like everyone else.
Furthermore, it shouldn't matter to anyone if he's fat, skinny, black, white, abled or disabled.
He looks great. He's healthy & happy, and he's giving back. He's always giving back.
The reason why many people do not have what he has is because they do not know how to treat with respect their own gift.
He does and it shows.
