Toast, Harvest Moon, Deja Vu Release Updates
Last week, we posted that Harvest Moon Live and Toast were set for release on July 8 based on Amazon.com's listing.
Well almost immediately after the posting, the Amazon listing disappeared. We suspect an odd coincidence.
As we like to say here: Thrasher's Wheat reports. You decide. So apologies to folks who submitted pre-orders only to have them bounce.
In the meantime, in the spirit of rumor du jour from No Expiration - a blog about timeless music:
Toast: Probably out in 2009.
Harvest Moon Live: Next year.
The Archives: This fall.
Deja Vu: There will be a soundtrack, with complete versions of the songs heard in the film.
We've also learned that Deja Vu will have a DVD and Blu-ray version of the film.
As Minority says: "All in all, exciting stuff. But remember: with Neil, anything can change at any time. All part of the fun of following his path, I guess!"
Thanks Brian! Our fingers are crossed.

How about Trunk Show. This is the DVD for his just completed tour. A nice package would be a two disk live cd of the tour, packaged with the DVD.
Holy Cowgirl! Were does "Minority" get all his information from? It looks kind of interesting. Specially the info on Toast and the unknown Harvest Moon Live album. Toast: Probably out in 2009. Harvest Moon Live: Next year. If this is correct information then somebody has to come up with one really important question; WHY would Toast be postponed? The answer might be simple... Yes, I know it's a all a guess... but it is very well possible that Neil is recording something new.... I don't want to create a fuzz but I did do some research earlier this week because I still have to get my mind clear on Neil's most important project (LincVolt). During this research I found some notes that brought the idea of a new recording to my mind. Toast being postponed until next year only feeds this. I do hope this is what is happening because Neil is in a good mood as we all could see recently at JavaOne and the amazing European tour. Well, I think we can expect something to come with the European summer tour. And I personally still can't believe the Archives are coming...
But please forgive me when I am wrong because I am a dreaming man... Yes, I know, that's my problem.
Anyway, the news on Jonathan Demme said that Neil Young Trunk Show is in post production now.
Here's my dreamy list of expactations.
1) “CSNY Déjà Vu” (DVD/ Blu-Ray) (December2008 / January 2009 / just before the US elections)
2) "Neil Young Trunk Show," a new concert film by Jonathan Demme recorded at Tower Theatre, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (This fall, probably November 2008 in theaters)
3) “The Archives” (10 Blu-Ray discs) (release date unknown)
4) “LincVolt” a movie by Bernard Shakey (DVD and Blu-Ray) (A qualifying race will be held in 2009 and the final race from California to Washington D.C. will take place in 2010.)
6) Toast (Audio CD) (Unknown)
7) Harvest Moon Live (Mysterious?)
8) “Live at the Riverboat” NYAPS 01 (What happened to this one?)
And for vinyl lovers there’s Live at Massey Hall-2LP- on 200 Grams vinyl. Reprise 43328-1-200G
Scheduled to be released July 15, 2008.
BECAUSE SOUND MATTERS
Trunk Show is scheduled for 2009 (I don't remember the source, sorry).
I think the delays are pure economics on the side of Reprise: why cannibalise the long awaited, mythical Archives? Business-wise, it's just dumb.
However, the comment suggesting new tunes is very intriguing, and quite within character.
Bring 'em on!
-Chicago
Yes, that could be the thing. The Archives are coming.
Nice summary, however one caveat:
1) “CSNY Déjà Vu” (DVD/ Blu-Ray) (December2008 / January 2009 / just before the US elections).
US elections will happen in early November, so hopefully CSNY Déjà Vu comes out in late September, early October.
I am not pleased with the toast-teaser... hopefully it WILL be because Neil has a new album - and with the Horse this time !
-Jim
Thanks, Jim. Yes, the elections are Tuesday, November 4, 2008. That's even better for NY and CSNY fans.
HELLO,
WHAT ABOUT THIS:
TOAST POSPONED IN 09 BECAUSE NEIL AND CEAZY HORSE WILL TOUR TO SUPPORT IT AND AT THE END A DOUBLE CD/DVD OF THE CONCERT PLUS BRAND NEW MATERIAL....
"Neil does what Neil wants to do.." PY
Thanks, PY, for the Reality Check. Timely and much needed amidst a sea of rumor and speculation. Blessings to you and NY.
CAT
But wait!! There's More!!!
Warner NOW has listed on it's schedule for August 19th:
"TBD-Sugar Mountain Live" !
Think maybe Neil's fucking with our minds??

A couple of days ago, a journalist friend of mine interviewed Neil via phone for a very well known italian magazine...
They spoke about a lot of topics (mainly Linc-Volt related), but Neil said his next music projects will be the Jonathan Demme film ("a rock'n'roll movie"), and a vintage LIVE RECORDING by BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD (!!!!!!!!).
He said also he has no new studio albums in the can, and there is no plan to release now Toast or a live recording of Harvest Moon...
I hope this clarify (maybe not....ehehe) some of the rumors...
Hmmm, sounds realistic. A vintage live recording of BS as NYA PS 01. ??? Did your friend talk to Neil about the archives? We all know he is working on the archives. The rock'n'roll movie sounds true. Not releasing Toast is a typical Neil thing. Maybe it was to "dark" after all and somebody came up with some dynamic BS live recordings that he liked...
Were does this Sugar Mountain Live info come from?
You never know with Neil.
As a music fan I am only hoping he will be working on the Archives Volume 2 and, if time and inspiration are available, recording some new songs for a new album. Just because he's in good shape at the moment.
As NY fan I am only hoping that Neil does what Neil wants to do. Linc Volt is a great project. Like anything else he has been doing recently.
Anyway, it sounds really strange to me that NY will tour Europe this summer without some kind of new album on the market...
I met Neil & Elliot yesterday in Florence...
Words from Neil:
"This summer tour will be all electric... a completely different show from the last Euro tour... I can't play acoustic in big outdoor arenas"
" I have no plans to release new material soon... At the moment I wrote only two new songs".
"There won't be any CSNY live concert DVD... a CD soundtrack will be out soon".
Words from Elliot Roberts:
"A single CD with the CSNY/Déjà Vu original soundtrack will be out in 6 weeks from now.... we delivered the album to Warner last friday".
"This summer tour is with Chad Cromwell replacing Ralph Molina on drums... we'll be back again in Europe in August for 15 days".
"Toast? Out next year. Harvest Moon Live? Out next year. Archives Vol.1? Out this year. Crazy Horse? Maybe next year. More NYA Performances Series CD's will be available to the public in the future".
Now this is quite official.... isn't?
