read somewhere that up to another 8 bands may be playing this 'festival'. anyone heard any whispers ?
i'm hoping its not all older bands or middle of the road modern acts. its a long day so will need some 'UMPH!' on the bill too
...like who gives a toss who else is playing? Just get there by eight to give yourself time to get down to the stage for Neil. And unlike at Hammersmith you won't have to sit down!
AUSTRIA, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Result! This place is 30 miles down the road from where I live... and a really BIZARRE choice for a concert venue. I've not heard of them putting on a music festival here before, and this place is a kind of place you'd go on a school geography field trip to learn about arts and crafts. It's got some nice old oast houses, and is laid out like a farm complex; I think I went there 10 or 15 years ago to a medieval day; jousting and archery demonstrations, that kind of thing.
Whatever, I'm just dead pleased he's back in the UK this summer, does anyone know if it'll be the same band as the Hammersmith shows or it'll be a Crazy Horse tour??
I live just three miles from the Hop Farm near Paddock Wood in Kent. It has held many musical events over the years from loacl radio events to an Elton John concert a few seasons ago. Its ideal for an out door conert. Saw Neil at Hammersmith on the 14 March it was a very sepcial evening enjoyed every minute... apart from those with very weak bladders and the odd drunk yelling!
And whats wrong with sitting down and being over 60? After all Neil is and he sat down!
Is this going to be his only uk date?
I have just telephoned The Hop Farm. The lady said she could neither confirm or deny that Neil will be playing or that a festival is even taking place on 6th July. She said further information would be available tomorrow. Saw him at Manchester on the 12th, absolutely superb. I shall be at Hop Farm(if I get the tickets!) whether the wife likes it or not!!
A one-day festival, CURATED by NEIL YOUNG is to take place at Hop Farm Country Park in Paddock Wood, Kent (UK) on Sunday July 6.
Tickets on sale tomorrow! Tuesday 18 March 2008.
9:00 AM.

this is really strange, got me tickets but theres no real news or info anywhere about it,.... just seen on BBC that vince power is behind it and it's a "back to basics" festival, no sponser etc,it could be like Glastonbury pre 95 when you could jump over the wall so why have just bought some tickets?
It sure is strange, i phoned hop- park about the gig and got the 'cannot give you any information' which seems completely unorganised to start with, I probably will buy tickets for me and friends, Neil is a living legend to me. I have booked tickets for Dublin at Malahide castle and this gig at hop park will be held the following weekend. Well it seems risky, I just hope Neil doesn't get too burnt out by June/July as i missed the London gig because of the evil 'WORK'... cheers all..
Mean Fiddler Founder Vince Power Returns with
'Back to Basics Festival'
One of the UK's biggest live music Promoters is set to return to the music festival arena this year with the first major non branded 'back to basics' event of its kind.
A Day at the Hop Farm is Vince Power's latest foray into the competitive festival marketplace and marks a welcome return to the UK circuit for Vince, who has been tied to a non-compete clause since selling his stake in his previous success story The Mean Fiddler Group.
Based at The Hop Farm, Paddock Wood, Tonbridge - A Day at The Hop Farm is a truly unique experience, with the event being totally unbranded, free of registration and without any VIP areas - with the aim of being a festival for festival goers, returning live music to its roots, where you turn up with your ticket and enjoy the same experience as every other ticket holder!
Power was instrumental in the success of Reading, Leeds, Glastonbury, Homelands, Creamfields and Tribal Gathering festivals and venues such as the Astoria, The Forum and Jazz Cafe and also responsible for the re-union of the Sex Pistols. Power recently created one of Europe's newest and most celebrated festivals Benicassim in Spain, which is extremely popular with thousands of British festival goers who travel to Spain for the 'Glasto del Sol' experience each year!
The event will be headlined by the legendary Neil Young who will be joined by numerous acts throughout the day to create a day of world-class live music entertainment, less than an hour from the centre of London.
Vince Power says "This is my first festival in the UK in the last three years, and since then I have been enjoying great success with Benicassim in Spain. I am happy to be returning to create a new independent festival in a far more competitive marketplace, which counteracts the current brand saturated music scene - making the festival goers themselves the most important element of the event. My plan is to own and run more festivals across the UK and Europe in the future!"
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 18th March 2008 at 9.00am through See Tickets and additional acts will be announced throughout March and April.
