South By Southwest Festival Keynote Speaker: Neil Young
Neil Young will be the keynote speaker at the 2006 South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas. Young's keynote speech is scheduled for March 16.
The festival will be held from March 10 - 19, 2006.
According to Austin 360, Neil will participate in a conversation with Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme. Young was locked in Wednesday evening, about three months after his manager was approached by SXSW co-director Louis Black, who's a longtime friend of Demme's. "This is huge," says SXSW director Roland Swenson, who ranks confirming Young with snagging Johnny Cash as keynoter in 1994. "Johnny Cash was the first concert I ever went to and Neil Young is one of my all-time heroes." Swenson says it's "highly unlikely" that Young will perform.
In other Neil news, it is looking like Young may tour next year with Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Also, the long awaited Archives Box set is now set for release in the Fall of 2006.
See upcoming issue of Mojo Magazine for details. Thanks Jaan for the tips!

If it is true that Neil is touring next year with CSN, I hope they work a little harder at making it fresh. Maybe Stills can write at least 1 song in a 10 year period and not do covers and "new" tunes he wrote in the Ice Age. Nothing like seeing guys make millions of dollars after doing nothing but sit on their ass for a decade. I for one am sick of paying a jacked-up ticket price only to have Neil be the only contributor of new material. Ya think considering the money they will make, they could lock themselves in Neil's train barn for awhile and come up with a REAL CSNY album. Not soem mish mash of crappy songs they didn't want to put on their own albums. Just my 2 cents.
"unknown" sounds just a tad bit.....envious...like nothing, is something to dwell on?
is there a transcript of the sxsw keynote floating around anywhere on the interwebs?
