Ryman Nashville Concert Ticket Rumors
As we reported back in June, dates were announced for a series of Nashville concerts at the original Grand Ol Opry at the Ryman Auditorium. Neil Young will play for five nights August 15-19 and the concerts will be filmed by Jonathan Demme.
Rumors and reports continue to swirl on ticket availability. Some report that the concert will be invitation only.
Recent reports from The Tennessean indicate that some tickets MAY be sold to the public.
"The general public should really remember this is first and foremost a film project," Ryman chief Pam Matthews says.
That means they'll put in cameras and crew first and then fill in audience around them. So ticket info won't be available until three or four days before then. And there may not be many available.
When they did the Norah Jones DVD taping at the Ryman, the equipment and locally cast beautiful people took up the whole main floor, leaving fewer than 1,000 balcony tix for the public. And high-powered music industry folks from around the country are already calling for seats".
Thanks Doug, Bruce O. & e2f for the tips!
Lastly, please do not assume that Thrasher's Wheat will have any definite word about ticket availability.
UPDATE 8/3: Ryman Concerts Update - Date Change.

John Prine is not playing the Ryman on August 19th. His show is scheduled for the first weekend in October and tix go on sale on Aug. 19th.
John Prine mis-info corrected. Thanks!
Too bad that only the "beautiful people" can attend a Neil show these days without knowing the in's and outs. Too bad, too bad.

Being a Nashvillian and living minutes from the Ryman, it would kill me to not see the concert. I've checked all my sources and still no luck! They're being stingy with the info!
I just got an email from my friend in Canada who is flying in to see the last two concerts. She's getting in as a friend of a guy who's in Chris Janson's band - those of you from Nashville may have seen this 19-year-old kid totally rocking at Tootsie's. I guess Demme went to see him play a while back and invited him to be part of these concerts. A huge break for this extremely talented performer. Wish I could be there!
To Anonymous from Chittenango, NY: no one said that only beautiful people can attend a Neil concert. What it said was that for Norah Jones, beautiful people were cast to sit downstairs. First of all that was Norah not Neil: second of all they were cast to be filmed or cast to be audience in the film. The upstairs was for spectators: not contingent upon looks. When picking a cast the director can choose whatever look or type he/she desires to be a part of his film. Third of all, this was first and foremost a film project and not a concert...but that comment about beautiful people was about the Norah show anyway and not Neil. Hope this sets it straight.
I just got back from Nashville for a business trip and by coincidence stopped into Tootsies Friday Night. Chris Janson was absolutely kickin ass. He didn't break for about 3 hours and he had the place rockin. If you get a chance to see him, I recommend it!!!
When your ready to see the future of country music check out Chris Janson! He WILL explode soon. Chirs,When your ready to hire a tour bus driver get in touch !sledneck707@aol.com
Chris Janson is awesome. Im pretty good friends with him bc im from his home town. I agree he is the future of country music.
I was lucky enough to catch Chris Janson at Tootsie's also. Holy crap...this guy just ROCKS THE HOUSE. It's rare to see such and electrifying performer. When you see Janson, your foot will stomp, your hands will clap, and the money will fly outa yer wallet and into the tip jar. I'm going back to Nashville just to see this guy. It's worth the trip just to see him. Don't tell anyone...let's keep this our secret so he'll stay in Nashville.
For the Chris Janson fan that's planning on making a trip to Nashville to see him perform again, he is no longer playing the bar scene. He has signed a record deal with Sony records and he's on his way to stardom. It didn't take long because of his AMAZING talent. I know I feel lucky to have caught his show when I did. Chris, take your wings and fly high, the world is waiting for YOU!

Anyone know how to get ahold of Chris? I was heading back to Nashville in April hoping to see him again. I know he has a condo down there and was just wondering if he is still around. My wife and I seen him on out honeymoon and let me tell ya this guy is AWESOME. I had my picture taken with him and he autographed a menu for me at Tippy's. Any information would be wonderful.
