Nashville's Ryman Concerts Update
Emmylou Harris & Neil Young in Nashville
More twists and turns on the upcoming concerts in Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium -- the "Mother Church of Country Music".
From a Reprise Records press release, the concerts will be on August 18th & 19th.
Neil will be joined by special guests, including Emmylou Harris, Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns, the Fisk University Jubilee Singers and Carl Gorodetsky and the Nashville String Machine.
Having just seen Emmylou Harris with Elvis Costello earlier this week, Thrasher can only imagine how great these concerts will be.
From the PR:
"He will be performing songs from his upcoming album "Prairie Wind," which is being called one of Neil Young's masterpieces, a moving series of songs reflecting his life's journey."
The concerts will be filmed by Jonathan Demme who shot the "Sleeps With Angels" videos and commissioned Neil for the Academy Award nominated title track of "Philadelphia".
Also, the "Prairie Wind" release date has been pushed back to a September 27th release.

Are any concert dates planned to coincide with the album release in September?
In 1996, director Jim Jarmush made a mediocre rockumentary 'The year of the horse' about Neil Young and band, only the highway scene where Neil Young 's music is played in the background in the film is a good piece, all rest was a badly interviewed Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Hopefully, we get this time a realistic portrait of this man, and his music and life, the raw power and living power of this man. Jonathan Demme, go for the naked truth ...
I called Reprise Records this afternoon to ask about tickets for Neil's Ryman concerts this Thursday and Friday. I was told that there will NOT be any tickets for sale to the "general public"...

I just heard that everyone attending will have to wear ballroom attire. If you are going to try to get in it might be a good idea.

Also saw the Ryman shows.
Terrific stuff but not 'masterpiece' material when compared to ATGR, TTN or RNS... still very, very good though.
