Kenny Buttrey RIP
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Drummer Kenny Buttrey, who recorded hits with Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Jimmy Buffett, died Sunday. He was 59.
Family members said he died of cancer at his home.
Buttrey worked much of his career in Nashville recording studios, providing the percussion for albums including Dylan's ``Nashville Skyline'' and ``Blonde on Blonde,'' and Young's ``Harvest.''
``He told me the other day that the two songs that were his favorites were 'Lay Lady Lay' with Bob Dylan and 'Heart of Gold' with Neil Young,'' said his wife, Cheri Buttrey.
Buttrey's other drummer credits include Buffett's ``Margaritaville'' and Robert Knight's R&B single ``Everlasting Love.'' He also played with the Southern rock group Barefoot Jerry.

I would like to thank Neil Young for being so kind to my sister, Cheri Buttrey following the death of Kenneth. Neil, You were always a big part of Kenneth's life and you should know that you were honered at the Buttrey home. Thank you, Christopher Greenwood
I'm listening to some Bob Dylan as I write this - and I'm ( once again ) enjoying the amazing drumming of Kenny Buttrey. He had such a tasteful, understated style that always gave the songs he played to just the right amount of "lift". A true master of the instrument! Hats off to you, Mr. Buttrey - thank you for the great music. May you RIP.
