Farm Aid 30 Press Event - The Roots and the Future of the Family Farm Movement

Here is the full Farm Aid 30 Press Event "The Roots and the Future of the Family Farm Movement" from Farm Aid 2015, Chicago held on September 19th, 2015.

With appearances by Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews, the Farm Aid 30 press event focused on the actions people have taken to make a difference for family farmers.

Moderated by WBEZ radio's food and agriculture correspondent, Monica Eng. The message from Farm Aid 30 rang clear at FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago on Sept. 19: Every action each one of us takes makes a difference for family farmers.

Farm Aid’s 30th anniversary brought thousands together to celebrate the progress that has been made for family farmers since 1985 and to emphasize the importance of the Good Food Movement. At the concert, Farm Aid reaffirmed its commitment to creating a future of family farm agriculture.

“When we started Farm Aid, a crisis was gripping farm country,” said Willie Nelson, president and founder of Farm Aid. “Farm Aid called on America to stand up for family farmers. They showed up then, and they’re still showing up. All different types of people are coming together for family farmers, and we’re making a difference.”

Willie Nelson

From Willie Nelson on 30 Years of Farm Aid -- and Why He's More Passionate Than Ever About Legalizing Pot | Billboard by David Ritz | October 15, 2015:
Of all the causes you might have championed, why Farm Aid?

Farming was my first job. I picked cotton. I pulled corn. I knew firsthand what it meant to farm. I knew damn well how tough it was. In high school, I was a proud member of Future Farmers of America. My farm roots are deep-seated in the soil of my personal story.

Willie Nelson Sick, Concerts Affected

In Farm Aid’s three decades, what is your most memorable moment?

It might have been that first one, because back then there was still uncertainty. Who knew if the idea would work? So it was a real thrill when the show sold out and 80,000 fans showed up. Beyond Dylan, Young and Mellencamp, we had B.B. King, Waylon Jennings, Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and a slew of others. Everyone was eager to pitch in.

farm aid

1985, Champaign, Ill. The inaugural Farm Aid raised more than $7 million with a crowd of 80,000. From left: Cash, Nelson and Jennings. Paul Natkin

Through Farm Aid’s history, what is your proudest accomplishment?

The fact that we’ve raised the public consciousness. There’s awareness today about the challenges of farming and the benefits of buying products on a local level -- especially organic food -- that was missing 30 years ago. Farmers’ markets have sprouted up. People realize the downside of shipping in food from hundreds of miles away -- wasting money on costly fuel -- when wholesome food can be grown and bought within a local area.

Do you believe the plight of the farmer has significantly improved?

There’s lot of work still to be done, but yes, I do believe real progress has been made. The proliferation of social media, for example, has been a good thing. All forms of communication help, especially when communication starts at the grass-roots level. Corporate-owned newspapers and magazines can be biased, but nowadays folks are looking beyond that; they’re hungry for the truth. Consumers are educating themselves about where and how food is grown.

Willie Nelson for Nobel Peace Prize For Farm Aid

The campaign for a Nobel Peace Prize for Willie Nelson's Farm Aid work and other causes continues. Thus far, over 25,000 have supported the effort by liking Willie Nelson for a Nobel Peace Prize page on Facebook.

With this year's Farm Aid 2012 in Hershey, PA coming up, we thought it was a good idea to remind folks of the remarkable lifetime achievements of the founder of Farm Aid, Willie Nelson.

Willie Nelson's efforts for Farm Aid, his work on alternative fuels, and world peace initiatives deserve a nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize. (Full details of Nelson's career and commitment to humanitarian efforts are here.)

Willie Nelson has been helping family farmers for over 25 years and has raised awareness of healthy foods while raising funds for the cause.

Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp organized the first Farm Aid concert in 1985 to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to keep farm families on their land. Dave Matthews joined the Farm Aid Board of Directors in 2001. Farm Aid has raised more than $37 million to promote a strong and resilient family farm system of agriculture. Farm Aid is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to keep family farmers on their land.

John Mellencamp is campaigning to get Willie Nelson a Nobel Peace Prize. The interview took place on SIRIUS XM Willie's Place at Farm Aid 25 in Milwaukee, Wisc.

The Epicness of Promise of the REAL

Ceremonial Burying of The Guitars
Neil Young + Promise of the Real - Santa Barbara Bowl" (Oct. 9, 2015).

So do you doubt the epicness of Promise of the REAL?

A note from a long time buddy Mark (Spook The Horse) regarding the recent Neil Young + Promise of the Real Rebel Content Tour:
Hey T,

Oh my word.

I'm still recovering from the finest Neil shows I've ever seen. Truly. Hand on heart, they are astonishing.

I could go on and on about the onstage chemistry, the stunning playing, the songs and setlists. But you've seen it too!

Managed to pack in five shows in all...

Seattle
Vancouver (nice but at the bottom of the pile)
Portland
Eugene (with added Airforce 1 and Obama as I flew south)
Santa Barbara

So many highlights, those deep cuts (I mean Vampire Blues...and HWAITY...and TFA!!!!) but that incredible F'in Up in SB...lord above. Astounding.

I don't buy the Crazy Horse Jr. This is the Promise of the Real.

No wonder Neil looks so happy. In his fading years he's found a band who can genuinely follow his muse, inspire his muse and take him to places we never ever expected him to go again. He messes up from time to time. They (rarely) do to. No glares and glowers. Smiles and (dare I say it) love pours across the stage. Look at how he keeps a watchful eye on Micah, giving him confidence on stage, giving him occasional lead breaks with Lukas looking on proudly at his younger brother...

...and look at the awe and wonder in Lukas' eyes as Neil shreds Old Black...he keeps up and then gives up as Neil rages on. And smiles a broad Texan smile at the sight that unfolds in front of him two feet away...

...and look at Neil's generosity of spirit in giving Lukas the stage (September Song getting rapturous ovations every single time, rightly so) and also handing lead breaks to him time after time.

It's a wonder of music. And a wonderful moment in Neil's live career.

It's genuinely beautiful and moving and inspiring to see, watch and be part of.

L.A. in L.A. was a nice touch too...and Mansion on the Hill!

Wonder what's left before this section ends? Maybe Like An Inca will trot out?

...save pennies for the southern US leg!!!!

Enjoy Bridge. Skies the limit!

best
Mark
Spook The Horse
Thanks Mark, Spook The Horse ! Clearly -- sooner or later -- it all gets REAL... and it always has ... and always will...

Review of the Moment: Neil Young + Promise of the Real Sow Seeds of Rebellion at Santa Barbara Bowl (Oct. 9, 2015)

The Concert Review of the Moment is from "Neil Young + Promise of the Real Sow Seeds of Rebellion at Santa Barbara Bowl" (Oct. 9, 2015) | Santa Barbara Independent by Paul Wellman:
Let’s be real.

There’s a good chance human civilization has about half a century left until we render the world inhospitable. It’s almost impossible to imagine a way in which we could disentangle ourselves from the gridlock of our unsustainable ways in time to meet the needs of unborn billions, or in time to put the brakes on a rapidly accelerating climate shift. Certainly not, at least, when so much power seems to rest in the hands of a greedy few, or in the hands of a populace too afraid or too numbed to disturb the peace.

But even when doomsday seems nigh and the temperatures fume into the triple digits in October, a folk hero comes along and promises the chance of something better. Neil Young, still a firebrand after half a century of making some of the most unapologetic rock of all time, came to the Santa Barbara Bowl on October 10 with the Promise of the Real to deliver such a pledge. He came out solo first, beginning with ineffably poignant renditions of “After The Gold Rush,” “My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue),” and “Mother Earth,” his voice perhaps even finer now than ever, with the years to match his woeful old soul. Being a big fan like most in the audience, it’s hard to overstate or even describe the dreamlike and emotional awe that befell the crowd. It was hard to believe it was real.

Reality is a subject that Young and the Promise of the Real like to sing about. Young admits it’s unfashionable, as he sings on his burner of a new song, “People Want to Hear About Love,” a surprising set highlight. The night had its elements of surprising theatricality, too, like when a team of Tyvek-suited crop-dusters smoked the stage to make way for the band, or when a pair of farmhands spread seeds across the stage. The biggest moment of drama came when Young unveiled a picnic basket filled with seeds. “They’re very alive, and don’t like to be controlled,” he said, before he and band disseminated organic seed packets through the crowd in defiance of the recently passed California Seed Law. He asked any police or security guards to apprehend him. “I’d love to be arrested for this. I’m ready to go as soon as I’m finished playing this show,” he said.

And the band knew how to play. Epics like “Down by the River” and “Love and Only Love” were shredding rock vortexes, as hypnotic and rocking and loud as anything this reviewer has ever heard. Promise Of The Real packed real talent and added some interesting new accents to songs, like beautiful bowed guitar on “Out On The Weekend.” Lukas Nelson wowed with a rendition of “September Song,” a song his dad Willie once covered – another highlight of the night. If rock’n’roll will never die, as Young sings, then the Nelsons and the Promise of the Real are great inheritors to the cause.

“I certainly hope we offend somebody,” Young said. He proved just how rare an artist he is, especially nowadays – does anyone carewant to offend anybody anymore? The sentiment could seem quaint, especially if their methods of dissent are through seed packets and so-called “dad rock” music, but he’s a wise village elder; hardly anyone else is addressing these subjects. And there was nothing quaint about this band or Young as a performer; he still out-rocks just about everyone born since he was, as he proved on the show’s finale, “F*!#in’ Up.” When he and the Nelsons laid their broken-stringed guitars to rest, they were still sputtering their last waves of feedback.

“Look at mother nature on the run in the twenty-first century,” Young sang at the show’s opening. Who knows if this kind of protest rock really moves mountains, or just makes us feel like we can; but it is heartening to know that there is someone bearing witness at the very least, should we look upon these times and see missed opportunities in our policies and lifestyles. Young, in his undying rock spirit, asks us to be more, to give our children the promise of something more real and something more free, and that night, he gave us a very real hope that we still can.

The Emperor Has No Clothes, and Neither Do Monsanto’s ‘Scientists’ | Common Dreams

Monsanto has gone to great lengths to influence the public's perception of its products.
(Photo: Daniel Acker/Bloomberg News)

The fallout over The Monsanto Years continues...

Published on Monday, October 12, 2015 by Common Dreams: "The Emperor Has No Clothes, and Neither Do Monsanto’s ‘Scientists’" by Katherine Paul.

The Monsanto public relations machine has done a stellar job in recent years of reducing the GMO debate to one that pits “pro-science advocates” against “anti-science climate-denier types”—with Monsanto portrayed as being squarely planted in the pro-science camp.

But that well-oiled machine may be starting to sputter.

Turns out that Monsanto executive solicited pro-GMO articles from university researchers, and passed the “research” off as independent science which the biotech giant then used to prop up its image and further its agenda.

We know this, thanks to thousands of pages of emails obtained by US Right to Know, under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). And because a host of news outlets—including the New York Times, the Boston Globe, Bloomberg, the StarPhoenix and others—are now running with the story.

For anyone who has paid attention, this latest scandal should come as no surprise. As Steven Druker writes, in “Altered Genes, Twisted Truth,”  “for more than 30 years, hundreds (if not thousands) of biotech advocates within scientific institutions, government bureaus, and corporate offices throughout the world have systematically compromised science and contorted the facts to foster the growth of genetic engineering, and get the foods it produces, onto our dinner plates.”

Will Druker’s book (published this year), and this new wave of bad press be enough to finally expose Monsanto’s “science” for what it is—nothing more than an expensive, sustained and highly orchestrated public relations campaign?

The story behind the story

U.S. Right to Know (USRTK), a nonprofit funded almost entirely by the Organic Consumers Association, launched an investigation into “the collusion between Big Food, its front groups, and university faculty and staff to deliver industry PR to the public.”

As part of its ongoing investigation, the group filed FOIA requests to obtain the emails and documents from 43 public university faculty and staff. The requested documents included records from scientists, economists, law professors, extension specialists and communicators—all of whom, as the group points out, were conducting work in public institutions, all funded by taxpayers.

On its website, the group says:

We believe the public deserves to know more about the flow of money and level of coordination between public university scientists and other academics, and the agrichemical and food companies whose interests they promote.

And now we do. And we know exactly how the latest plan to deceive, involving a paid PR firm posing as an independent third party, was hatched.

According to Mother Jones:

In an August 2013 email to nine prominent academics, Monsanto's strategic engagement lead Eric Sachs broached a plan: that the group would pen "short policy briefs on important topics in the agricultural biotechnology arena," chosen "because of their influence on public policy, GM crop regulation, and consumer acceptance."

Sachs assured the professors that the project would be handled discreetly. "I understand and appreciate that you need me to be completely transparent and I am keenly aware that your independence and reputations must be protected," he wrote. Two outside entities—an industry-funded group called the American Council on Science and Health and a PR outfit called CMA—would "manage the process of producing the policy briefs," "coordinate website posting and promotion," and "merchandize" the briefs by helping turn them into "op-eds, blog postings, speaking engagements, events, webinars, etc." This third-party management is "an important element," the Monsanto exec added, "because Monsanto wants the authors to communicate freely without involvement by Monsanto."

The explanation outlined by Mother Jones followed articles by mainstream news outlets, including Bloomberg and the New York Times. Here’s a partial roundup of the coverage generated so far by USRTK’s investigation.

New York Times: ‘helped produce important payoffs’

In a September 5 article, New York Times reporter Eric Lipton credited USRTK with obtaining “thousands of pages” of emails, many of which the Times then requested on its own.

After reviewing the documents, and describing some of the email exchanges between Monsanto’s PR firm and academics who were solicited to write articles, Lipton concluded that Monsanto’s strategy was effective:
The efforts have helped produce important payoffs, including the approval by federal regulators of new genetically modified seeds after academic experts intervened with the United States Department of Agriculture on the industry’s behalf, the emails show.

Lipton singled out, among others, Kevin Folta, chairman of the horticultural sciences department at the University of Florida. Monsanto recruited Folta, Lipton wrote, ”to help with ‘biotechnology outreach’ and to travel around the country to defend genetically modified foods.”

Folta, who according to the Times became “part of an inner circle of industry consultants, lobbyists and executives who devised strategy on how to block state efforts to mandate G.M.O. labeling and, most recently, on how to get Congress to pass legislation that would pre-empt any state from taking such a step, received a $25,0000 grant from Monsanto to fund his travel and “outreach.” According to Bloomberg, the University of Florida  donated the $25,000 to charity—after the Times story ran.

Despite the grant, and the incriminating emails revealed by the Times, Folta has long denied any “formal connection” to Monsanto. (USRTK provides a list of Folta’s many denials).

The Times also singled Bruce M. Chassy, a professor emeritus at the University of Illinois, who in 2011 received a grant for an undisclosed amount to support “biotechnology outreach and education activities. Emails obtained by the Times reveal that Chassy and a Monsanto executive talked about efforts to persuade the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to “abandon its proposal to tighten the regulation of pesticides used on insect-resistant seeds.

In the same email in which Dr. Chassy negotiated the release of the grant funds, he discussed with a Monsanto executive a monthslong effort to persuade the Environmental Protection Agency to abandon its proposal to tighten the regulation of pesticides used on insect-resistant seeds.”

Read the entire New York Times article here.

Bloomberg: ‘How Monsanto mobilized academics’

The headline on an article posted October 2 by Bloomberg said it all: ‘How Monsanto Mobilized Academics to Pen Articles Supporting GMOs.’

Bloomberg reported that the “undisclosed recruitment of scientists from Harvard University, Cornell University and three other schools to write about the benefits of plant biotechnology is drawing fire from opponents.”

The Bloomberg piece focused on how the Genetic Literacy Project, a clearly pro-GMO nonprofit that says its mission is “to disentangle science from ideology,” published articles by the scientists on its website, without disclosing that the articles had been solicited by Monsanto and its PR firm.

Despite its headline, however, the Bloomberg report bends over backwards to present Monsanto and the scientists’ arguments that their articles weren’t influenced by Monsanto’s PR firm, CMA Consulting, even going so far as to infer that there exists a scientific consensus that GMOs are safe with this statement: “The challenge for the pro-GMO lobby is the yawning gulf between scientific consensus and public perception.”

The existence of a scientific consensus on the safety of GMOs is widely disputed by international scientists.

Read the Bloomberg article here.

Boston Globe: ‘Harvard Professor failed to disclose’

Taking the local angle approach, a reporter for the Boston Globe focused on a Harvard professor caught up in the scandal.

Reporter Laura Krantz wrote:

A Harvard Kennedy School professor wrote a widely disseminated policy paper last year in support of genetically modified organisms at the behest of seed giant Monsanto, without disclosing his connection, e-mails show.

Professor Calestous Jumanot is author of an article titled, “Global Risks of Rejecting Agricultural Biotechnology,” published on the Genetic Literacy website. According to the Globe, in an email to Jumanot, Monsanto’s Eric Sachs, head of regulatory policy and scientific affairs suggested a topic, a summary and a headline. Jumanot chose a different headline, but the gist of the article conformed to the PR firm’s agenda.

As the Globe, the Times and others outlined, the Jumanot was one of nine professors who received emails from Sachs. Krantz wrote:

His e-mail lays out the agribusiness giant’s strategy. A marketing company would “merchandize” the papers online, disseminate them to the media, and schedule op-eds, blog posts, speaking engagements, and webinars.

Jumanot told the Globe, which had also previously reported on Jumanot’s connection to Monsanto, that it was the publication’s responsibility, not his, to disclose the connection.

In the end, neither did.

Read the Boston Globe article here.

StarPhoenix: ‘no mention of Monsanto’s involvement’

Monsanto didn’t limit its influence to U.S. academics. Zeroing in on one of its own, Canada's StarPhoenix reported on Peter W.B. Phillips, graduate chair at the U of S Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, who was also approached by Monsanto.

According to the StarPhoenix, owned by Canada’s largest newspaper publisher:

Phillips was asked to write about the "burdensome regulations" that "stifle innovation" in the biotech industry.

"Critics might lead you to believe that genetically engineered crops are not tested or regulated. That is wrong," read the opening line of the finished article by Phillips.

In his conclusion, Phillips stated: "Increased regulatory costs and an expanding approval process stifle innovation - the innovation that is needed to secure an adequate supply and, appropriate quality of food at affordable prices."

Like Jumanot, Phillips denied any wrongdoing, telling the StarPhoenix that he wasn’t paid for the article, and that he works with a host of corporations, governments and non-governmental agencies: "That's part of my job," he said. "The research world has changed."

Indeed it has. And, we would argue, not for the better.

"Don't You Wish You Could Be Here Too"

I drove to Santa Barbara early because half the fun of attending a Neil Young concert is talking to Rusties who have a NPL (Neil Priority Lifestyle) before the show.

Arriving at 3pm, I found some Rusties sitting outside the entrance to the Santa Barbara Bowl. I went over to say hi and the first thing I say is "SHUSH!" I didn't want to be rude, but Neil + POTR were sound checking one of my all time favorite songs "LA." It was a very funny moment. In fact, a few people in line actually laughed and thanked me. Rusties told me they had heard "Time Fades Away" at soundcheck. I first heard TFA on March 25, 1973 at my first Neil concert. I was praying Neil would play TFA tonight. The next few hours were spent talking about Neil and the current tour. The show was scheduled to start at 6:30pm and we would be let into the venue at 5:00pm. However, security told us at 5:00pm, that it would now start at 7:30pm. WTF?

There's a strict curfew at the Santa Barbara Bowl and I was saddened to think our show would be shortened by an hour. Security let us in at 5:30pm. There was a long walk up a hill and stairs to get into the general admission area. "Don't Run!", security told us. My dear friends Joel and Jackson ran ahead to hopefully get us spots on the rail in front of Corey McCormick the bass player.

I like to be to the left of Neil when he plays because I really enjoying watching him play the guitar. By the time I got into the PIT section, I noticed the Rusties I was in line with (Michel from Germany, Deny from France, Bob from Colorado, Steve and Angela from Lake Eisinore) were riding the rail. Fantastic! I saw Jackson and Joel were also riding the rail directly where I wanted to be in between Corey & Neil. I've attended 800 music concerts and only been on the rail a few times. Tonight was going to be a magical night.

The show started at 7:35pm. Two girls came out and sprinkled seeds on the floor. My first thought was I hope Neil doesn't trip during the show on the seeds. My second thought, I was riding the rail and I wouldn't have anyone in front of me either talking, holding up their cell phone, or any other distraction. I could focus on the show.

Miracle! I didn't see Neil come on stage but I heard the opening notes of "After The Gold Rush" on the piano and all my stress of my life melted away. After a few acoustic songs, Promise Of The Real joined Neil onstage.

For the next three hours, I was in Music Heaven On Planet Earth. The genuine love Neil and POTR have for each other is so apparent. I've never seen Neil so relaxed and so friggin' happy. The energy was electric. The music was loud and powerful. I wasn't going to videotape during the show but then I heard the first note of the song I was praying to hear "Time Fades Away." I held my arm as steady as I could. I wanted to share my video with my fellow Rusties. OMG Neil is playing TFA! At 9:58pm, I assumed the show would be over after Neil finished playing "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere."

BUT NO! Neil & POTR started playing "Love And Only Love". Curfew was broken! At the end of LAOL, Neil + POTR walked offstage. The crowd clapped loudly for more. Neil & POTR came back out and played for another 15 minutes. They played "Fuckin" Up." I decided to videotape "Fuckin' Up." After 13 minutes, my arm was hurting but it was worth it. Neil did a lot of innaresting things at the end of the song. I just hope "Old Black" is ok. Just kidding. The show ended at 10:38pm. I stood for a few minutes and thought "Thank You Neil Young! You are the living form of everything that music means to me! Long Live Neil Young!"

Music = Life

Thanks Joni in Malibuheaven for memories from the rail!

We'll see everyone soon at The Bridge!

"Time Fades Away" - Neil Young + Promise of the Real - Santa Barbara Bowl, CA, Oct. 10, 2015

Here's "Time Fades Away" by Neil Young + Promise of the Real at Santa Barbara Bowl, CA, on Oct. 10, 2015.

Per Sugar Mountain, Neil Young played the song 43 times on 1973 tour. Then again -- once -- 35 years later in 2008 in Germany.

And now again 2015, 14 junkies still too weak to work.

Thank you Malibu Heaven!

Your Concert Photo of this Morning Moment is Neil Young + Promise of the Real in concert at Roger's Arena, Vancouver, BC, on Oct. 5, 2015 by Joseph Boltrukiewicz | Straight.

Note the elaborate stage effects (when clicking to enlarge image above) at bottom of frame -- actual real, live flowers. Nice.

And a comment of the moment from Terry, who said...
I've been to many NY concerts over the last 40+ years, and this one ranks at No. 3 all time, right behind his solo tour and the original Rust Never Sleeps tour. Neil is clearly re-energized by the youthful vigor of POTR; he's having fun. He's not carrying this band; they are punchy and in-sync on their own, thanks to a crisp drummer and a high-energy bassist. And Neil again has another lead guitarist with whom he can trade distinctive licks, reminiscent of exchanging riffs with Stephen Stills.

The set list was well designed, starting with some solo acoustic greatest hits (Heart of Gold, Comes A Time), gently adding in the band with calmer old/new material (Human Highway, Wolf Moon), then gradually amping it up with a smart blend of rocking classics (Alabama, Southern Man) and Monsanto Years songs (Big Box).

Neil was powerful, clear and energetic, as if rediscovering songs with a fresh set of bandmates. Old songs sounded familiar, but brighter. New songs sounded much stronger than the album versions. If Neil decides to continue this partnership with POTR, they could probably keep up with him for another 20 years.
Thanks Terry! Number 3 in 2015 ain't too shabby for a guy pushing 70, eh?

And a comment of the moment from Alan in Seattle, who said...
Neil Young is really sticking it to the Idiot Fascist Oil Co. Whores like Stephen Harper.

What a horrible set of anti-Environmental Policies his Gov't has cooked up. They are Nazi Thugs, essentially, squelching Environmental Protest, and not giving a Damn about Mother Earth. These guys don't love the Land, Canada. They are ignorant Pawns, talking heads from Hell, really. Neil Young has got huge Balls.

I applaud his Courage to Tell it like it IS! Time is too short to stick our heads in the sand and Plunder every last ounce of Carbon Fuel out of the ground. This is a destructive path which leads to deplorable living conditions for the next generation and those to come. Stephen Harper will be thought of as the Devil to future generations of Canadians, as the Earth burns and the weather goes haywire. Neil Young is the voice of reason in an otherwise sparsely covered topic.

Neil Young is trying to make a difference.

I knew when I paid a high price for a ticket in Seattle that he was up to something with a Charity. I told my wife. Sure as shit, he goes Green, putting his $ where his mouth is. A Rock Star Bucks a Fu*k Up!

Alan in Seattle
Thanks Alan in Seattle! A Rock Star Bucks a Fu*k Up! And right there in Seattle's face, no less. btw, you may be interested in this latest Monsanto news.

We know who's standing up in Seattle. And Portland, too. Well, we only harvest some -- being the miners for a heart of gold that we are. are you passionate? have you ever been experienced? the rebel content walks on... the hour is getting late...
