One thing we can we agree on is that we all love the music of Neil Young. And this band is filling the sails, getting the old ship moving again.
Independents of left & right is music, “the math of the soul.”
Rather than focus on crops rotting in the fields, I am at this point all-in on seeing Neil 2 or 3 times on this tour.
TW meetup will not happen but I am holding out hope for Dan to join my friend & I in Bend.
I see Neil’s set list as a rejection of the sentiment of the new album. The hurtful stuff has ebbed, there is hope for human relations to thaw. The Dark Mirage has faded from the living tour.
“Ain’t no time to hate. Barely time to wait.”
There is a cost to turning one’s back on family. It keeps on costing too; you don’t just pay once.
Last night I got to see Lady Gaga with my wife & both daughters. I am not so obsessed with her music but I do like some of it. What a blast.
Gaga is out there telling everyone that it’s just right to be who you really are. There was a lot of Love in “Climate Pledge Arena” last night. I was glad to be a part of it.
Our country needs that kind of vibe. That and health care for all, a minimum living wage, and a return to “Civilization.” People being decent to each other. You know, the stuff Jesus said to do. Feed the hungry, shelter the homeless. Instead of a war on poverty, we have a war against the poor. And the numbers of poor are growing quickly.
AI and bad decisions will have “coders” sleeping on sidewalks too. Livelihoods are disappearing just as a full lack of compassion has grabbed the reins of our troubled land.
But Neil is still dreaming the dream we had. For him & us, it’s not over. Throw Your Hatred Down (but maybe not here). Love will trump Hate. Bring back the Hippie Dream!

(Corrected).
WA state locals, are you going to see the show at Château St Michelle 5/4? Got an extra ticket? I will be there with my TW tie dye on, with a little sign that says, “I Need A Miracle” just like back in the old days of the Grateful Dead.
Music stimulates emotion. Empathy is a gateway to the soul (or to love, whichever words you prefer for immeasurable things). Oddly, it was re-listening to some Living with War cuts (specifically from the raw version sans choral overdubs) that partly sparked this insight for me.
Shock & Awe hit hard: “We had a chance to change our mind.” A real gut punch. But it reminded me that people are capable of feeling this deeply, this fully. When someone like Neil sings, you hear you’re not alone in noticing humanity. It’s easy, particularly in our current times, to believe people have lost this level of attunement to each other’s hurt, love, and need.
This is what I mean when I talk about fully processing the troubling emotions. Sometimes it takes a roar of frustration to break the clouds and let sunlight through.
lol
Neil is great (the new album not so much)
Trump is great
the free speech censorship continues even here
I wish I could have read your comments, Richie
As someone who may hold a differing opinion, I’d have been curious to read those deleted comments myself. Who knows, it may have been possible to salvage a constructive conversation.
As far as I’m concerned, Trump is “great” as in massive, bloated, tumorous. But what do I know? I’m just some guy with possibly too many opinions for my own good. I hope the above qualifies as free speech.
The only one of mine worth reading was my first SARCASTIC one. The remaining ones that got deleted were nasty insults directed at me, and also ones I directed at them. There was nothing worth keeping. Though I don't totally agree with Thrasher's decision, I can understand where he's coming from, folks like me and you should be above that level. Sometimes I do like to poke fun and crap happens. No malice directed at Thrasher, this is for the most part a wonderful forum for Neil fans, hopefully of all stripes.
Richie, we need you on this forum. We can all do without the insults.
Can we PUH-LEASE talk about last night's show?! Any reports?
Thank you! Yes! Any reports? Your Brother Alan in Seattle
Sorry on lack of reviews. We're on the road to Cleveland.
Meanwhile, check our clip of "Love And Only Love" from Richmond.
More from CLE to come.
