No concert reviews from me…
To be honest, I am slightly confused by ol’ Neil these days.
I get that he’s anti-T Rump as are most inhabitants of Earth with connecting brain cells. However what I don’t get is why he allows the convicted, dis-barred former T Rump “fixer”, Michael Cohen, ANY soap box time on the Archives. Kinda pisses me off.
Then Neil goes on about not performing @ spaces that sell naming rights, but names Jones Beach as one of the non corporate spaces? Huh? Does Neil NOT realize Jones Beach Amphitheater has ALWAYS SOLD NAMING RIGHTS (@ least since the 80’s). It is currently named Northwell @ Jones Beach (A HUGE FOR PROFIT HOSPITAL NETWORK). To make matters worse, it is a “Live Nation Venue”. Not really sure what THAT means other than blocked out suites & box seats available to “members only”. With exclusive, expensive “club” access to in theater guests who pay a premium. The rest of us shmucks get to pay $110 for nose bleeds. Those seats weren’t worth it when they were $25. No matter who was on the stage. If the show sucked, the ocean view made up fer it. If the wind blew, so did the sound.

Neil's a Democrat, and also a hypocrite. The two go hand and hand. Even us Trump morons can figure that out....

Haha fragile little snowflake trump cultists. That clown gets all the hate he deserves.
Neil fans calling for censorship. We really have come a long way from honey slides and asking for More Barn.
It's hard to get blood from a stone, but I'll give it a try....
Although l appreciate Neil makes his political and environmental views well known.
I would much prefer to read posts about his music, his recordings and particularly whist on tour about the gig experience at the different venues.
I can only support the last comment. Posts are music and tours are welcome.
Amen.
Nero. Fiddling as Rome burns.
Thanks for laying out the “ground rules” to free speech. Very T Rumpian of you.
Kinda like red hats hate thinking?
Went to Meadowbrook last night. What a fantastic show. By now we all know Neil does what he wants, and from my perspective it's beyond fortunate that what he wants to do is play these songs with this band. There were quiet folk songs (both deepish cuts- like Ambulance Blues and a couple of beautifully delivered later-days CSNY tunes-and fan favorites like Old Man and One of these Days.) I can't imagine those who just went to ROCK were disappointed either, I guess you could say there weren't as many "rarities" in that department but so many rockers, so joyously played by the band.
There weren't too many rough edges or exceptions to the "holy cow these guys sound great together" rule of the night other than Spooner being inaudible from my spot in the pit, by and large the night was sublime. It's tough to pick out highlights because I enjoyed it so much. The vocal harmonies throughout were fantastic, I believe that after One of These Days what Neil was mumbling was something to the effect of "that was so much fun that even if there was no audience to listen to it we'd just be doing that by ourselves some place out back".
Don't know what else I can do justice to after such a hot night. New Mama was a song I never figured I'd hear live and it would have been goose-bump inducing just as pretty much any Tonight's the Night material always is, even if it hadn't been delivered so beautifully.
What else deserves mention here? I don't know, you run out of superlatives. It felt like a special night for the band- I don't remember seeing Neil finish a show by breaking (all? most?) of the strings on his guitar and then setting it down as if he'd better before he destroyed it entirely. After furious/joyous versions of Like a Hurricane and Into the Black it seemed like an appropriate end to the night, and you could see on their faces just how happy they were to be there on that stage together, playing that music last night.
Magic!
Thanks!!!
Dear F.O.G. THANK YOU for keeping it about the MUSIC. Pretty envious of you!
@F. O. G.
What a wonderful description of what appeared to be a perfect concert. I have been privileged to experience my share of those, but I’m not sure I could have explained them better than you have here.
Neil has been laying it all out there for so long, and it’s inspiring to know that he’s still able to do it at this point in his life. He defies the odds because he’s an authentic artist who always stays in the moment.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us all.
Peace 🙏
