MORE BARN (?): New Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse Album Produced by Rick Rubin
In 2021, the album BARN by Neil Young & Crazy Horse was released, after being recorded literally in a barn high up in the Colorado rockies.
Now comes word on a followup album by Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse being completed from the latest issue of UNCUT Magazine in an interview with Billy Talbott about the unreleased album Toast. (thanks Julia & Mike!)
The UNCUT interviewer Michael Bonner says: 'The Horse have just finished recording with Rick Rubin...
Billy Talbott: 'Yeah, we did. It was a lot of fun.'
Also, per NYA and Letters to Editor, new songs on the upcoming album include "Break the Chain" and “Chevrolet”.
Also confirmed on NYA | Letters to Editor, the album has had a playback session with Reprise executive Mo Ostin who "loved it".
In another NYA | Letters to Editor, Neil replies:
“Chevrolet” may take you to outer space. There’s a good chance in the 13 minutes it plays.
While the album title remains unconfirmed, earlier speculation was that 2021's BARN followup would be titled MORE BARN, fwiw.

And let's not forget those 1997 Horse sessions produced by Rick Rubin that netted Horseshoe Man, Modern World and Hard Luck Stories, never released. Found thanks to a fan letter written by Neil.
And according to Neil’s story of Toast, RR was a guest in the studio for those sessions as well. Fun timing!
More Barn would be great. Pretty sure Neil said in a reply to a recent letter to the editor on NYA that the recent recordings weren't done in the Barn though. Will be interesting to see and hear Rick Rubin's influence too. As much as I enjoyed Barn and Colorado I couldn't help feeling that maybe they could have been even better.
PS - From and Hank to Hendrix from Noises & Flowers is playing on NYA today. Full track listing for the album looks great.
Off topic but great story about Nicolette Larson over on Rolling Stone
