Just recently, Neil Young announced a new "Weld Series" planned for Neil Young Archives and the 2nd clip is now premiering on Hearse Theater | NYA
This Buffalo "LIKE A HURRICANE" is the 12+ minute encore and considered to be "Mind Blowing" -- even by Neil himself. This is part of the encore from the CRAZY HORSE - BUFFALO WAR MEMORIAL film, coming Sunday in its entirety to NYA. Be sure to watch last few seconds of video for a very special treat for those with eyes open to see. HINT: It shows the calm in the eye after the storm. And out comes the son.
The following comment was just posted by the ever so faithful and fearless Scotsman:
The long-awaited video of Like A Hurricane from Weld is now streaming on NYA.Previously, a "blistering" 8 minute+ "Crime in The City" version by Neil Young & Crazy Horse was screened.
One of the greatest Crazy Horse live performances ever (admittedly there are a fair few others, maybe several thousand).
If (for some strange reason) I had to pick just one officially released Crazy Horse track, this would be it.
It really is an incredible performance that just builds up to an outrageous level of intensity. Set aside 13 minutes this evening and watch it; then set aside an hour to get your breath back.
The complete Buffalo 1991 show is set for its premiere on Sunday. Stay home and enjoy it.
Scotsman.
As mentioned, the 1st release from the "Weld Series" will be from Memorial Auditorium, Buffalo, New York, on 1991-02-16. A preview clip was posted recently on NYA of "Campaigner" from Buffalo which indicates that this will be a performance oriented release concert as opposed to the original WELD release which contained vast amounts of audience reaction. Apparently, Manager Elliot Roberts was quite opposed to the WELD editing that favored audience over band. Neil seems to be correcting this decision by saying: "Well Elliot, you got it. Better late than never my old friend."

Not regretting at all, but I still have Fireside on my NYA.. any chance of find bt?
Puzzle and curious...
A mind blowing and explosive performance. Can’t wait to see and hear the entire set. I saw two nights of this tour, one in Portland and the other in Seattle. Both shows were by far the loudest concerts I’ve ever been to. Not loud so much in volume, but in frequency. Honestly the only time I’ve experienced my chest cavity pulsating with the music. Epic is an understatement. This Weld series is something really special to look forward to.
Thanks Neil.
Peace 🙏
Roberto, if you can't find the Hurricane video it is under the movietone page on the newspaper.
On the mobile app there should now be a link to it from the homepage too. Hope that works!
From the fearless Scotsman. :-)
Dan S: really unusual version of Tonight's The Night from that Seattle concert. Have an audience recording of it somewhere.
Scots.
@Scotzman : If memory serves, (and not always accurate) during Tonight’s the Night in Seattle Neil was evoking Hendrix. “how’d he do it, how did Jimi do it”. I remember something in that vein. It was a really transcendent moment.
Peace 🙏
oh at the Cow Palace I can confidently say it was loud in volume. volume is the correct word
I caught the Weld tour in Providence, about a week after this Buffalo show. Social Distortion, Sonic Youth, then Neil and The Horse. To this day, the loudest night of music in my life. Bone-shattering from beginning to end.
At one point, my buddy's girlfriend asked me if Neil was gonna play Heart of Gold. I just held back a laugh and told her that I didn't see it happening.
@Scotsman thank I got it, my mistake is solved! I'll keep it for later today, dont thank it's the right ONE for early morning..
and a new character enters the Thrasher's What Universe: Waving Girl!
Is that a lupos heartbreak hotel t- shirt that Neil is wearing? Nice to see being that I'm from Providence, RI
@ all - thanks for everyone's the thoughts here.
@ Art - Waving Girl + Boy, too!
btw, did you catch the last seconds of the video?! If not, spoiler alert.
after burning down the house w/ The Horse, just shredding Ol Black to taters on Hurricane, Neil walks over to the side of the stage.
You just see a very tiny glimpse of Neil kissing Pegi and then hugging Ben.
totally shattered.
tears
peace
ah yes. the ol down front fist pounder lol. she was feelin it. She deserves her own of the moment thread
Just FWIW, the child with Pegi at the end appeared to me (and others) to be Amber. not Ben, given the long blond hair (Ben's was dark as a child, as can be seen in the Nickelodeon trains video from three years later) and apparent lack of a chair or other supporting devices.
@Babbo B : you certainly are into the details.... much appreciated by the way.
Peace 🙏
Re: Amber and Ben. I love the short TV feature/interview that exists from the train barn from 1993 or 1994.
You get to briefly meet a young Amber, who already has much in common with Pegi (and, if I recall correctly, doesn't come across as being entirely overflowing with enthusiasm about her Dad's "train nerd" tendencies!).
And you also get a sense of just how close Neil and Ben are, who comes across as an absolutely wonderful person. What struck me most was how the train set became a way for Neil and Ben (and their friends) to bond. It looked like a lot of fun.
(You'll notice that I don't usually comment on Neil's family or life away from music. That's because I think an artist's personal life should be exactly that: personal. I'm here for his public work, which as you've probably noticed I'll talk all sorts of nonsense about: and the rest is entirely none of my business. But if Neil's family choose to share something from their family life then that is different. And I'm glad they chose to share that short but very enjoyable train barn interview).
Scotsman.
Buffalo War Memorial 1991 was my first Neil show. I was there to see Sonic Youth as much as Neil.
I've seen many Neil shows since, but I look forward to seeing that one again. Thx Neil!

Unknown: yes it is! Neil wore it a lot around the time of his own ('68) "comeback" in the late eighties and early nineties.
Scotsman.
@ Babbo - thanks. it's very brief and you have to be quick.
