Just watched Like a Hurricane. What a epic performance. Just as Keep on Rocking in the Free World started there was a bolt of lightning then it faded out which left me wanting more. Wanting more is always a good sign.
Unfortunately I saw just the first few minutes of Le Noise and noticed it was 77 minutes and I was at work so I was going to check it out at home later, but I forgot, so I missed it. After reading Scottsman’s Comments I was really bummed out that I missed it. I just wish we could just select a film and watch it when we have the free time, but hopefully that feature will be coming soon.
Definitely looking forward to seeing the rest of the scheduled films.
Just watched like a hurricane. Yes please! that was awesome looks like it was ''one of those nights'' magic in the air. We really need a NYCH tour in Europe a.s.a.p.
Some schedule updates:
- Aug 28 Wednesday is now MOUNTAINTOP (the making of Colorado)
- Sep 3 Tuesday, JOURNEY THROUGH THE PAST
- Sep 4 Wednesday, RUST NEVER SLEEPS
- Sep 5 Thursday, LONDON part 1 acoustic
- Sep 6 Friday, TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT WELD excerpt
Hoping that LONDON is the Tim Pope film from Hammersmith 2008.
Well... I really appreciate these videos but I can't be connected each day or evening. My family and my job are prior... I'm an early days NYA subscriber and I'm really exhausted and upset to miss live performances or other great videos such as the Like A Hurricane available only this friday and a few weeks ago. It's boring and unfair. So I request a permanent replay !
And if anybody has recorded the LAH on wav or any video format, send me a mail...
London acoustic part one. Does anyone know what year that was from? Maybe 1989. I should ask Neil.
Tim Pope film 2008? I heard his film was a documentary about a Neil London acoustic concert decades back.....
Pope filmed at Hammersmith Apollo in 2008, there was a video excerpt of solo Homegrown (on banjo) on YouTube for a while but it's been taken down.
The filming was mentioned in a fan review of the March 14 show: http://www.whiskyfun.com/Gigs/Neil-Young.html
Pope also discusses it here, though he doesn't give a date: http://www.timpope.tv/blog/neil-young-still-crazy
The final two shows were filmed (14th and 15th March 2008). In recent years Tim returned to the Apollo/Odeon to shoot an opening sequence outside the venue for his film.
Those at the shows would have noticed a gentleman on stage during the electric sets swinging around what appeared to be a mini camera (?) on the end of a rope. More conventional cameras were also in place.
By this point in the tour the setlist had evolved from Trunk Show, and there's enough material from the two shows to edit together a compelling concert film, particularly of the acoustic set, which on that tour kind of felt like "1976 meets 2008".
Scotsman.
This is really good news then! I've heard the bootlegs from some of those shows and to see a video of that would be amazing.
