The Album Booklet for Neil Young's "ROXY TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT LIVE" has now been posted to the Neil Young Archives Timeline. In addition, The Album Booklet for the upcoming PARADOX Soundtrack Album by Neil Young + Promise Of The Real has been posted to the NYA Timeline. (Thanks Thos!)
Neil Young's "ROXY TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT LIVE" is set for release on 4/21. (You can support Thrasher's Wheat by pre-ordering here. Please shop locally & independently. But if you can't, we appreciate your supporting Thrasher's Wheat by clicking this link. Thank you!!!)
The Roxy Theater concert was recorded during a run from September 20 to 22, 1973. Additional details have been posted here previously.
The confirmed news that Neil Young's next release will be "ROXY TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT LIVE" has -- as usual -- brought about a mixed reaction.
The Tonight's the Night tour concerts from 1973 are quite legendary amongst most long-time Neil Young fans. Many fans attending the tour concerts were bewildered by the experience expecting hippie acoustic sets in the post Harvest era, yet received loud, harsh, edgy electric sets. But time has since revealed the true masterpiece that the album Tonight's the Night captured. We have explored this topic in depth over the decades. (For more, see Thrasher's Wheat Comment of the Moment.)
For us, the raw Tonight's the Night recordings hold much value in peeking in on that critical timeframe: The Season of The Ditch. Producer David Briggs allegedly had a Tonight's the Night "raw version" which included all of the tape roll pre- and post-song recording. All of the studio, drunken, stoned chatter between the band, The Producer and The Artist. But the tape seems to have been lost to the ages...
So -- in the meantime -- we look forward to ROXY LIVE.
Open the tired eyes.

Notice the Riverboat label is black instead of the usual gold of the time. The ROXY release will be the same as the "Tonights The Night" release on the 5-8 official release series. In the notes, NY mentioned in the notes this was to show a mark of respect for the TTN album.
NYA is also advertising that Paradox soundtrack begins streaming tonight at 8 pm PST with a sticky note on the front of the filing cabinet.
Also, Amazon is currently selling new vinyl copies of The Visitor for under $9. That's a rare deal in Neil vinyl.
Dear Trasher
I just finish to watch Paradox movie on netflix. It's a funny and endearing movie. All the Neil Young's world is there : moon, crows, dogs, old train, music, guitars, nature and friends. It's like a feary tale but i'm not sure to understand the story very well. Probably, because my english is not so good (i am a french woman)and the "actors" speak too quickly for me. So i just open my eyes and ears and it was a very good vibes. So beautiful landscapes, great music -specially Peace trail and a beautiful song sings by Lukas Nelson around a campfire- and a big message to protect nature, and seeds. There is a little "clin d'oeil" at the Sense 8 series with Daryl Hannah, the Angel. The Nelson's brothers are fine to look at and it's really cool to see the Promise of the real band playing that movie. A great time for the fans

@ seldomlogical - nice to see a mark of respect for TTN.
@ Cyclebrarian - great news and we'll have on our weekend playlist.
@ Fleur - many thanks for the review. It would seem to be a perfect International Film for those not strong on English. Paradox has many aspects of a silent film, like Dead Man.
Like most things Neil, if you're looking for a conventional film with plot, dialog, action, climax, resolution, etc, you're likely to be disappointed. But, if approached with an open mind, then you're likely to be delighted & pleasantly surprised.
Peace and Love,

I started listening to the soundtrack this morning so it is up there now. Had stop though, will let the movie tonight be my first exposure to the music within.
It's brilliant to see the content rolling out from NYA and Associates. Hopefully a reasonable pace of releases can be maintained, but at present I feel some celebration is in order simply because it looks like stuff is actually in the works.
Sorry I have been invisible lately. Last month I had a run of hardware issues with my computer, meaning my only consistent internet access was mobile. Which obviously precluded my partaking of the NY Archives site. All better now, and excited to get a taste of Paradox! Which I'm hoping/expecting will stay on Netflix following the initial stream? Also overdue is my personal screening of Human Highway director's cut. I'm playing a bit of catch-up now on various Neil-related things.
Based on history, Neil's excursions into the land of cinema are... idiosyncratic. I know this is (Paradox) is Daryl Hannah as opposed to pure Bernard Shakey, but I'm expected the unexpected. Bottom line: I've sat through JTTP--more than once. I'm sure this one will be at least equally digestible.

Record store day version of “Roxy” is 2 lps, not 4. The only difference between it and the standard version is the rsd version comes with a limited edition print.
Loved the movie last night.
The big take away from the soundtrack for me is the now finally complete triumvirate of songs:
1. Hey
2. Hey Hey
3. Hey Hey My My.
I wonder if 'hey' is the old Ducks song, anyone know?
I never thought that was a Neil tune but it could be I suppose. I haven't heard it, the ducks song that is.
Hey there! I have this very cool Neil Young Crazy Horse Ragged Glory Western Tour 1991 booklet for the band and crew, complete with tour dates, hotels where they stayed, days off, contact info for all the participating tour related offices, maps with time zones, starting with the San Diego Sports Arena on April 1st, and ending up at the PNE Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia. Would anyone be interested in having this? Or should I just toss it out? Please let me know, ok ?
@ Suzette - thanks so much for writing. Sounds really cool.
Please don't toss! We'll find a good home somewhere with one of our readers. Please get in touch with us @ thrasher@thrasherswheat.org
