Neil Young Archives (NYA) 1st Movie Night: "Hurricane" From Alchemy 2012 Crazy Horse Tour (UPDATED)
Last week we posted on the latest issue of MOJO Magazine (#293 – April 2018) that has Neil Young on the cover and a world-exclusive interview "The Rebel Speaks" by Keith Cameron.
Some additional details have surfaced from the issue:
“I think the first movie night we have will be the Alchemy [2012 Neil Young & Crazy Horse tour] version of Hurricane,” says Young. “It’s a half-hour version, and it’s also during one of the largest weather events… well, definitely the biggest weather event that I’ve ever played in.Most likely, Neil is referring to the A Day On The Green, Geelong, Victoria AUS Concert Reviews of Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Mar 16, 2013 (check review comments.)
It is ridiculous-looking. And sounding.”

Here are 3 brief clips to give you a feeling of the intensity. All 3 are about 90 seconds before conditions become so desperate even the tapers give up. But Neil and The Horse gallop on in the driving rain.

Also, of note in the upcoming issue:
Young acknowledges the particular place in his work occupied by Crazy Horse (“I think Crazy Horse probably gets to a more cosmic place”) while giving due credit to his current on-stage partners, Promise Of The Real, which includes Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah.
“I’m not accepting the status quo of what’s happened in music.”
Graham Nash recalls the circumstances around CSNY’s decision to record Young’s song Ohio, which mourned the four students shot and killed at Kent State University in 1969, before remembering a 2006 live performance of another Young song, Let’s Impeach The President, at Madison Square Garden, New York, which had later-to-be President Donald Trump grooving in his seat.More on Neil Young: "The Rebel Speaks" | MOJO 293 – April 2018 by Keith Cameron.
“He was right in the centre of Row 8, sitting next to Salman Rushdie, for God’s sake!” Nash tells MOJO. “You can’t make this shit up!”

Having been lucky enough to see Neil in an amazing thunderstorm, I look forward to this video.
"Let's Impeach The Pretendsident" (with apologies to Neil Young)
Let's impeach the Pretendsident for lying
And for treating our country like a whore
Giving jobs to all his friends and family
And ushering democracy out the door
Who's the man who laundered all the Rubles
And dodged the Draft four times (or was it five)
A big hand now for good old Cadet Bone Spurs
We're drowning in an ocean of his jive
Let's impeach the Pretendsident for spying
And letting Putin sow all his discord
Tweeting out his versions of Reality
Except maybe from 11 am to Four
What if the NRA had a luncheon
Of course he'd change his mind again that day
Or maybe just payoff another Porn Star
Executive Time or call it what you may
Flip - Flop (his hair)
Flip - Flop (that mop)
Flip - Flop (despair)
Flip - Flop (please stop)
Let's impeach the Pretendsident for stealing
The election and taking us on a cruise
Down the raging rapids of Shit River
And changing the definition of "Recuse"
Thank god he's cracking down on Rocket Man
Sending Ivanka there with the news
Jared had to stay home with the children
While Mueller keeps compiling all the clues.
Слава Богу (Thank God)

Neil was a Bernie fan. I was too. The Democratic Primary Election was rigged by the DNC and Hillary. Let's not give Russia all the credit. Alan in Seattle
Mister Henry, that is superb!
The world needs one more Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour.
Not to nit pick, but the murder of four students at Kent State occurred in May 1970, not 1969. In May 1969 Neil had yet to join CSN.
The guys at Uncut must be pissed that Neil talked to their rival -- even if he didn't tell them anything of note.
@ Joe - thanks on reminder on Horde 1997. Definitely epic as well.
@ Mister Henry - It's been awhile. You changed your handle? Or is this a different Henry? Not your usual type of TW comment?
@ Aaron - right. The Galaxy needs as well.
@ Unknown - no worries. Getting facts straight is important. The date of the Alchemy show is wrong as well. 2013 not 2012.
@ Artie C - hopefully just friendly competition -- which is a good, healthy thing.
Neil mentioned a few weeks ago it's the Hurricane from the 7/23/13 Nyon,Switzerland show.
I haven't even seen the March edition of MOJO yet. It's only March 1st. This says April edition, is the UK a whole month ahead os us or what????
Peace
Magazines are dated for the month following their issue date. So the April issue comes out in March, May in April, etc. Don’t know why but it always has been like that.
