▶ Flashback: Neil Young Covers 'Sweet Home Alabama' in 1977 (sort of)
Long time readers of this site are by now quite familiar with our fascination on the whole "faux feud" between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Neil Young. Afterall -- over the years -- we've only written about the subject once, or twice, or maybe thrice, well you get the idea, no -- not once again?!, and so on...
But that doesn't stop Rolling Stone and Andy Greene jumping in again with a post on Neil Young Covering 'Sweet Home Alabama' in 1977 just weeks after Lynyrd Skynyrd's tragic plane crash. (FULL DISCLOSURE: Neil doesn't actually "cover" Sweet Home Alabama but segues into at conclusion of "Alabama" repeating "sweet home Alabama" a few times and a little riffing.)
Neil Young pays tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Ronnie Van Zant in the medley of "Alabama" and "Sweet Home Alabama" Alabama on 11-12-77.
