Since Ramada Inn is my favourite new NY song of the past 10 years, and after having listened to it on the CD and over the course of this new never-ending tour, I feel this performance (and other recent performances) lack a bit of that initial energy in Neil's solos and from the band. That is to be expected. He has focussed a bit more on the melody - cool. But those first 20 performances of this song (e.g. Boston, Austin) were truly inspiring for any guitar player. Not a complaint: just a comment.
The Australian/New Zealand Performances Are Smokin Good.Heard All Of Them Except One Show. On Cdr, Not LivE. 3/16 & 3/13 Are Great. Austin Texas Show And Kitchener Versions Are Good Too.
The 3/16/13 Show Neil Says Before The Song. Heres Another Sad Bastard Song For Ya. This ones For Mom & Dad. Every Time I Hear it I Tear Up. One Of NeIls Best Songs Ever!
Definitely one of my favorites recent Neil songs (2nd only to Walk Like A Giant)
A Correction From Earlier TodaY On The Date of the Show Which Neil Says Prior To Blastin Into Ramada Inn. Its The 3/5/13 Adelaide,Australia Show Not 3/16/13. He Says,Heres Another Sad Bastard Song For Ya,This Ones For Mom & Dad.
Taoism is not a philosophy of compelling oneself to be calm and dignified under all circumstances. The real and astonishing calm of people like Lao-tzu comes from the fact that they are ready and willing, without shame, to do whatever comes naturally in all circumstances.
--Alan Watts
When she was young
and immediately
I loved her so
Looking at her
Made me happier
And happier
And happier
And happier
Than maybe I have ever been
Or maybe I will ever be
But never even happier
As happy as I am today
