Comment of the Moment: The Unfinished Business of Buffalo Springfield
Richie Furay, Stephen Stills, and Neil Young w/ Rick Rosas and Joe Vitale
The Comment of the Moment is from Buffalo Springfield's Richie Furay Looks Back & Forward, Re-affirm's Reunion in February 2012 by Zot:
It occurred to me that maybe the Buffalo Springfield reunion means just as much, if not more, to Neil than it does to Richie?
Judging from the interviews that Richie has given, it seems as if a Buffalo Springfield reunion was not in his wheelhouse at all. That it was a foregone conclusion in his mind that it would never happen.
Then, the call came in from Neil after Stephen suggested it to do the Bridge School Benefit (which was supposed to be a one off thing). I did notice while watching the videos from that show where Neil seemed to be just having the time of his life there. They all were jazzed about continuing on, but Richie did say that they should wait a week or two before making any long range plans.
The conventional wisdom seems to be that Neil put on the B/S reunion in part to give Richie his due, but I'm sensing that there's something deeper than that as far as Neil goes. That this is a huge part of his legacy, and that it will not only not be forgotten, but to remind all how important it was to the larger scheme of things.
How important the music is.
Thanks Zot!

Who claimed that Neil reformed the BS to "give Richie his due"?
That seems to me nothing more than rumor and innuendo.
No facts around that statement, as far i can tell. If you got 'em, please share 'em.
If Neil reforms Crazy Horse, is he doing it to give Billy, Pancho and Ralph their "due".
C'mon, Neil doesn't operate that way - never has, never will.
IT MAKES MORE SENSE " TO GIVE BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD THEIR DUE" DONT'CHA THINK? .SOMEONE NEEDS TO CALL THIS CONVENTIONAL WISDOM GUY TO SEE IF THAT'S WHAT HE MET...
"They don't know they're wrong,
But you know that they never can see that.
That's what makes them strong,
That they know that we'll never see.
"Some things never change,
Nothing's going to change that,
Some things you can't explain,
Like why we're all embracing conventional wisdom
In a world that's just so unconventional."

How about the UNFINISHED BUSINESS OF CRAZY HORSE!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, everyone reads into things way too much. I saw Neil the first time over 34 years ago and well over 100 times since. There is one thing for sure we never know what to expect and that is why We keep going to the concerts. We've gone to a bunch of Farm Aids and we were there at Bridge School for the Buffalo Springfield reunion. It was great and I'm sure the concerts after were also great. Hopefully it is over now. As someone once said it's about the music and that's it. I'd love to see one more Crazy Horse tour, but hey that' s only what I want.
take Richie out of the Springfield and what do you have? the 2011 version of the Stills-Young band (yawn)...it seems as though STEPHEN has concerns about a full tour...I do hope he's up to it...
I'm so sick of hearing about Crazy Horse fanatics who absolutely want a Horse tour. Get a life. I mean, Neil Young has just done this amazing solo tour, he's reuniting with his second real band and not that long ago he did this amazing tour for Chrome Dreams (as documented by Mr. Demme). You guys are just starting to sound like crybabies. I mean Crazy Horse is great if you think about the albums but I mean the last real crazy horse album was Broken Arrow (Greendale isnt really CH as far as I'm concerned, Neil could have done the album with any band). But the fact is that I doubt a 2012 Crazy Horse tour would sound anything like Arc/Weld or Year of the Horse!!
its the 25th of Bridge school. This is a huge deal! Hope the lineup is great. and in hopes not to sound like a crybaby I hope the Horse is let out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is time.
CNN just did an extensive bit on the Springfield -- great interview with Richie and Steve, by the way, which was filmed at Bonnaroo -- and mentioned this alleged "30 city tour" that doesn't seem to be happening. Do we think it will? I would think not, since CSN are on tour and it's getting late for a fall booking.
I seem to recall Neil saying not too long ago that the Horse had to get it together before he could get it together with them, meaning maybe there's a broken leg out there that even he can't fix. It'll be a Buffalo SPRINGfield tour after the beginning of the year, pushed back and steamrolled from the fall plans.
Neil will record and tour with Crazy Horse again, you can take that to the bank. According to Ralph Molina, everythings good .. their 'brothers', nobody needs to get anything 'together'. As usual, their just waiting for the call ...
