I just discovered this place by accident. I am really pleased because Patti sits at the throne of my pantheon, with Young and Dylan at her feet. By way of introduction, can I tell you about the best concert I ever saw? Classify under rock 'n roll ramblings.
It was way back in 1989, in Sydney Australia. Me and my two best girlfriends were devastated to find that Neil was coming to the Sydney Entertainment Centre, and we couldn't afford tickets. The best we could do was to get some cheap cask wine and sit outside listening to Neils ghostly voice wafting through the doors. We were literally bawling. So near, yet so far. Then, about half an hour in, the doors suddenly opened and three drunken, blonde bimbos stumbled out with looks of utter disgust on their faces. They were obviously Bon Jovi fans. "This concert SUCKS!!" were their exact words, and in one purely miraculous, unforgettable moment they handed us their tickets. All I can say was Neil gave a spine tingling performance, half acoustic and half plugged in, and it was a night I will never forget. A sentimental favourite that one. There is no accounting for taste in this world!
Excuse me,as far as genius goes i'm on a par with old Neil and i'm better looking !
Mr J. Bon Jovi
I too was at that 1989 Sydney show (went both nights), and I've never heard anything louder! You should have been able to hear it OK outside!
We could hear it loud and clear, that's why we were weeping into our paper cups! I am always amazed when I think of the strange, fateful turn that that night took for us. We were young and under-employed and hurting so bad for what we were missing. We felt as though the universe had corrected a tiny mistake it had made and made us feel that there's a little bit of cosmic justice out there sometimes. And God bless trashy, Bon Jovi lovin' blondes.
