Beth Orton and Neil Young
A new blog called Leaky Sparrow has a nice piece "When Beth Orton quote Neil Young". Orton sings:
"So tell me what Neil Young said
You pick a flower then it’s dead"
Yes, love is a rose.
More on Beth Orton and Neil Young.
Thanks Philippe & good luck!

I don't know anything about Neil Young, a girlfriend tried to quote one of his songs and I am looking for the correct version. She said "love is a rose and you better not pick it only grows when its on the vine handful of thorns and you know youv'e missed it you lose your love when you say the word mine." can someone let me know if she is missing anything or fill in the punctuation. Thanks
It's: "Love is a rose, and you'd better not pick it. Only grows when it's on the vine. Hand full of thorns, and you know you've missed it. Lose your love when you saw the word 'mine.'" It's about not love not being something you can possess. Hope that helps!
