WOW, thanks for publishing this Thrasher!!!! Standing next to the sound board Tuesday night at The Beacon as the second set opened I heard snare drums playing a martial beat…. I had no idea it was leading into OHIO!!!! With their interpretation of the composition I didn’t know it was OHIO until Susan sand the first word!!!! Great cover the sold out audience was in awe and totally into it whistling and cheering. I was ready to yell out Crosby’s question, “How Many?” But the opportunity never presented itself. Nonetheless every one understood why they sang it, the gravity of the song amidst current events didn’t need commentary and Susan didn’t embellish their selection with commentary after the song, it spoke for itself, as threat works of art do!!
Thanks Thrasher! What an incredible performance. This is made me a fan of the band Thanks for vid!

Speaking of covers. Just stumbled across this nugget:

@herbsworld - I think Mick Hucknall is a fan of Neil. Mick/Simply Red recorded Mellow My mind on their Blue album as well.
He has also covered On The Beach a few times - here's a pretty cool version from the 1993 Concert for Hope (I like how the guitar player has an 'Old Black' style guitar!):

I also recently discovered Robert Plant was covering For The Turnstiles on his most recent tour with his latest combo Saving Grace, albeit the lead vocal is taken by Suzi Dian, with Robert on harmonies and percussion. I think they do a pretty fine job and here's a recording from a show in France last July:

@Ron
Amazing! (I actually stumbled on “Blue” first. Then I landed on this earlier, live version) I really only thought of Simply Red as a one hit wonder. “Holding back the years”. Still, waters… Thanks fer the heads up on Plant. Guess? Could probably do a whole thread on covered Neil? U just never know what treasures abound out there 😎
Albino like that dude use to haunt the Santa Cruz Mts over Lexington Res. Oh everybody knew and feared them . Ask any Los Gatos
@Herbsworld - Yeah I am always interested to see which artists cover Neil and especially which tracks they select. Most go for quite well known tracks - not many would choose MMM or FTT.
PS I don't know about the US but Simply Red had many hit singles and albums in the UK. I was given their first album as a gift and at the time enjoyed it and a couple of live shows a lot. Most of what came later not so much. I actually have Blue but honestly have no idea when I last listened to it.
Ohio is such a powerful song. I find It always stirs the emotions and especially so in these current difficult times.
@Ron
Couple years back, Grace Potter did a guest appearance @TTB / Beacon.
They did an Amazing Southern Man. That song gets blood pumping also… (s/b on the you tube?(
