Neil Young puts it best: “This album is the unheard bridge between Harvest and Comes a Time”.More on Neil Young's new album "Homegrown" and preview track "Try".
Recorded between June 1974 and January 1975, Homegrown was intended to come out in 1975 before Neil cancelled the release. The album has remained unreleased until now, achieving a legendary status among Neil Young fans in the process.
The album is made up of twelve Neil Young songs, of which seven are previously unreleased - “Separate Ways,” “Try,” “Mexico,” “Kansas,” We Don’t Smoke It No More,” “Vacancy” and “Florida” (a spoken word narration). Also included are the first recordings of “Love Is A Rose,” “Homegrown,” “White Line.”
“Little Wing,” and “Star Of Bethlehem” – different versions of which would all later appear on other Neil Young albums. Neil plays solo on some tracks (guitar, piano and harmonica), and is joined by a band of friends on other tracks, including Levon Helm, Ben Keith, Karl T Himmel, Tim Drummond, Emmylou Harris and Robbie Robertson.
Recorded in analog, and mastered from the original master tapes, this long-lost album is a wonderful addition to Neil’s incomparable catalog.

for us, we always find these neil time traveler loops to be most fascinating. here's a song about “vacancy” from 40+ years ago being released in the midst of soaring unemployment, urban flight and the associated emptying of commercial buildings w/ "For Lease" signs everywhere.

Hey Thrasher - yes no doubt I have been & can continue to be a cantankerous curmudgeon...but mostly over politics lol
With Neil's music, I rarely waver...sometimes I'm sure I am with that too (Fork in the Road)
anyway, Homegrown hits the sweet spot...feels like a good bong hit after a nice meal (about to happen here)
bittersweet to hear a 29 year old Neil in 2020 when he is pushing 75...

Heavy groove and lyrics to match. I am really excited about this LP, and I already have one reserved at our local record store. Along with the new Dylan release, next Friday, things are really looking better music wise. Everything else is just sad, scary and worrisome. Our world is in serious need of a total reboot, and soon.
We’re all much better off working together and celebrating our differences, instead of being afraid of our differences. We just have to want it bad enough and we can make it happen. I hope we’re getting close, for everyone’s sake.

it seems that a global reboot (#BigShift) is well underway.
also, just want to say your support here @ TW over these past months has been very much appreciated.
we realize that most folks have little time for chatter about such topics
But we're encouraged to know that TW offers a refuge from the global crisis.

The big technology companies seem to be in a unique position to profit big time during this pandemic, and they are positioning themselves to grow even bigger over the next few years. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy technology as much as anyone, but for the independent record store, this doesn’t bode well for their future.
I encourage everyone who still buys music in the physical format to make a point of supporting their local record store. This will allow them to continue to create a unique place for us to share our love of music. Independent record stores are where we can go to get exposed to music you might not be able to hear anywhere else. Radio has become so formatted that it’s difficult to get exposed to music created off the beaten path, and that’s the kind of music you may not even know you like until you actually hear it. Those folks working in the record stores are the ones seeking out music that flies contrary to what is popular, and that’s where you can discover your next favorite artist you didn’t even know existed.
These local record stores can’t compete with Amazon or Apple, but they are important for the survival of music as an art form. These independent stores support their local musicians and their local music events. If all we end up with is a world filled with giant corporations, we sacrifice our individuality, and that is not something that I aspire to.

I'd recommend 6 music as a damn fine outlet for some of the best new and old music out there. And I regrettably have had to resort to Amazon for my music fix as of late, but post lockdown that shit will cease...
Homegrown and rough and rowdy ways both dropping on friday- happy times! A man can only take so many half assed frank Sinatra covers... Imagine if triplicate had been his final statement
