“Oxygen,” he tells The Colorado Sun. “It was rough and exciting.” Lofgren says he and his wife, Amy, took a 10-hour road trip from Scottsdale on the way up to 8,750 feet above sea level.
“Neil wanted us there a few days early to acclimate,” Lofgren says. When they got to Telluride, the Crazy Horse crew knew Young wasn’t fooling around when they saw their welcoming gift waiting in their hotel rooms: tanks of oxygen.
“I used oxygen every day,” says Lofgren, a former gymnast known for his whirling, athletic moves onstage. “When you’re playing and singing like that, if you’re not used to oxygen deprivation, focusing for 10 hours at a clip, it keeps you from getting spacey in that altitude.”

Milky Way audio streaming now on NYA (to be followed by the making-of video in the morning).
Nils new album streams after Milky Way
Preview track "Milky Way" is sounding pretty good so far. The band sounds good... I need to get used to the phrasing on a couple of lyrics I think.
Neil suddenly re-scheduled the Making-Of video... so that won't be streaming today at least.
yeah, "milky way" has the spook, as it were. i'm still getting used to the full band arrangement after witnessing a jaw-droppingly great solo version in Spokane a few months ago.
It is growing on me. I really dig the instrumental sounds. This song has a Sleeps with Angels era feel to it. That album took a while to grow on me, and now it is among my faves. I think my high hopes might be realized on this album.
I am surprised nobody has said the song is a slowed down Cowgirl jam. Because that lick is almost identical. I like it though.
For me, Milky Way is sometimes close to a slow Dangerbird meeting tunes from AYP, SWA or maybe On The Beach. His voice is unfortunately often too high. Anyway, it's it's exciting.
