Love the sad emotion in this version of "Cortez The Killer" and it feels to me like they got the message of the song. The organ solo reminds me of Bill Payne used to do in Little Feat sort of taking the song to church.
BTW, if you haven't heard Warren Hayes "Halloween" show of, like, two dozen or more Neil Young covers you need to search that out. Sure wish Neil would do a tour with Warren Hayes' band backing him the way he did with Booker T. & the MG's. Think they called it "Young Mule" with Jackie Greene at the Taft Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio, I think.

Maybe have Warren's Gov't Mule play Farm Aid this year and Neil return the favor by playing Warren's Christmas Jam benefit in Asheville, North Carolina. Neil and Darryl could just show up and I'm sure Gov't Mule could take it from there with him.

To rethink "your place" in history Graham Hancock's new book "America Before" is highly recommended as are the Youtube videos Hancock has done with "genius" researcher Randall Carlson.
Peer to peer DNA and LIDAR research is crumbling the dogma of many areas of science right now in a profound way. North American history is having the rug pulled out from under it in a similar fashion to what happened to long established accepted Egyptian history with the rain erosion of the Sphinx that just ruined their timeline.
What a time to be alive right now and watch as the facts of these ideas aren't attacked but the character of the people putting them forth is set upon like a pack of hyenas.

thanks for all the links Jim! great comment & suggestion on Neil & Warren.
yeah, they'd be great for FA, for sure. maybe some jammin w/ Dave & Tim, too?!
yeah, the whole "history is bunk" is really catching on as folks wake up and open the tired eyes.
as truth breaks out all over, even ol fake/chaff-pedia can't hide it much longer, labeling as "hypothesis".

oh well. page will probably be gone before too long... can't have folks waking up too fast now, can we?!
carry on, be the wheat & peace
Much Love & Appreciation fer both musicians & bands (HUGE TTB fan) have seen both bands MANY times. Really love the organ work & especially the camera work zooming in on the keys - Wish More Camera Work Was As Focused On Keys, usually don't get an obstructed, overhead shot ....KUDOS, camera person!
Great Cover.
Ultimately ALL covers make me long fer an original.....
@ herbsworld - yep, TTB are a pretty awesome combination and we're very fortunate that Derek teamed up with Susan on all levels.
We'll be seeing them outdoors this summer and really looking forward to it. They always do great covers which reflect the times of the moment. Like a day or 2 after Gregg Allman passed, they did this stunning tribute of "whipping Post" that left everyone both speechless and jubilant.
