Neil Young Album Releases in Pipeline: Neil Young Answers Letters to the Editor | NYA
Neil Young has responded to another batch of questions regarding upcoming releases on Letters to the Editor | Neil Young Archives. (Thanks Ken!)
As noted previously, the next release will be "TUSCALOOSA: Live Album - Neil Young & The Stray Gators". On March 30, Neil responds to a question that "Tuscaloosa is an album that will be as close to TFA [Time Fades Away] as I will get." Answering another letter, Neil writes that: "The real 'Homegrown' album is coming out after Tuscaloosa."
Also, the album "Oceanside-Countryside", is still in the pipeline.

"The hand written title seen above is found on the timeline in March 1977, where it will soon be replaced by original album art."

Odeon-Budokan is now part of NYA, volume 2. It looks to me like Tuscaloosa jumped to the head of the line, and Oceanside Countryside and Ragged Glory II got pushed back (maybe to next year?) Chrome Dreams might fall in behind them. My best
guess is that there will be four Performance Series candidates for NYA, vol 2: Roxy, Songs for Judy, Odeon Budokan and
Boarding House. And it also seems to me that the Special Releases ARE special releases--that they will be released as "new" albums and be given their time to shine. That will certainly be the case with Tuscaloosa and Homegrown.
Tuscaloosa will be in the Performance Series and Homegrown in Special Release Series.
Anybody want to hazard a guess at numbers?
Release ALCHEMY TOUR. 50 year anniversary of Crazy Horse this year. Celebrate with a handful of theatre shows with the Horse. Bring in Poncho and Nils and play what they've been playing last may of'18 and Feb '19.
Ragged Glory 2 would make for a nice surprise too.
SMELL THE HORSE IN '19
It's all moving so fucking slowly. I'm too old to wait.. And I'm only 57... Come on Neil, release them (all) already!
Would love to see Poncho back and then shift Nils over to piano. Maybe Nils could study the Hargis "Pig" Robbins tapes to really put some zest into it just for inspiration. Hargis just kept soloing and Nils could do that for sure!
Hearing Crazy Horse really do "I Don't Want To Talk About It" would be so great with Nils on lead vocal.
Great year to be a Neil Young fan...
I wrote this yesterday but I must have screwed up or something, so I would like to try again.
I’m with you Gary, it has been a LONG time since Archive Volume 1. I am really impressed with the quality material Neil has released since then, but do they need to be part of Archive Volume 2? As I already have purchased them all, it seems odd that he would repeat them. He did the same thing with Archive Volume 1. Obviously I will buy it regardless, but I struggle with the duplication.
Neil is eleven years older than me and I turn 63 in September, so the clock is ticking. We have been waiting patiently, but Neil is going to be Neil.
P. S. To Thrasher and Thrasher Ett, I would like to publicly apologize for my reaction to the April Fools post. You caught me in a bad space. I had just finished watching the video of Greta Thunberg on NYA and I immensely moved by her speech, so I was not open to silly.
I hope you can both forgive me.
Peace.
@ - Ken - good calls and thanks for the comments!
@ Soldier Steve - Definitely on Alchemy. So much Horse to let out of the Barn.
@ Gary - As Bob sang, Ah, but we were was so much older then. We're younger than that now.
@ Jim - that would be a dream lineup w/ both Poncho & Nils. we can always dream. Always a great year to be a Neil Young fan!
@ Dan - all is forgiven, of course. no worries.
Yeah, know those April 1 blues for sure. Actually it occurs year round, usually shortly after declaring Won't Get Fooled Again.
peace
