I discovered Jay Farrar about 25 years ago. It was great to find someone who sang and played in a style I loved so much, without being force fed a contrary political view. I hope this song is an outlier, and not where he is going lyrically. At least I can still keep listening to Jason Molina for the same reasons, without the same fear. And I can still keep hoping Neil will regain his focus on the "music", maybe another Greendale, with amazing music first, and a more subtle political message. Neil is savvy, though. He's still got me, and many others who disagree with his politics, hooked with a great record occasionally and a steady stream of unreleased gems from the past. I usually refrain from commenting these days ( I believe if you don't have anything nice to say ...), but I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Thrasher for being my conduit to Neil.
@rightwing - well said
Jay Farrar got me too way back in 1995 with Trace & then I backtracked to the 4 Uncle Tupelo records...his electric stuff has always been a little too much like Crazy Horse in some ways to me but I still love his songs...that is until the leftist political thinking overtakes the lyrics....
sigh & sigh again
the original Son Volt lineup with the Boquist brothers won't be topped...
