Must admit I've never heard of them, but the lady in particular has a fine voice.
Whitehorse is an amazing group out of Hamilton, Ontario made up of Melissa McClelland and her husband, Luke Doucet. Luke was Sarah McLaughlin's guitar player for a long time and both have had amazing solo careers. As Neil Young fans, I urge you to pick up "Blood's Too Rich" and "Steel City Trawler" two Luke Doucet solo albums which feature Melissa prominently. Most of Melissa's solo stuff was produced by Luke and is excellent - try "Victoria Day" for some really cool retro sounds.
Of course they are Whitehorse now and they're incredible! Do yourself a favour and try to find a copy of their cover of "Winterlong" off of "Road to Massey Hall" which is absolutely one of the all time best Neil Young covers.
Thanks TOM.
We'll check out their "Winterlong" cover.
Ever checked out The Pixies Winterlong cover form Bridge Tribute?
Kim Deal's and Frank Black's vocals are perfect for the song.
Maybe analogous to what you're suggesting about Whitehorse's cover?
