The Visitor's latest message accompanies the NEW VIDEO: "Hitchhiker" by Neil Young (Black Balloon version) .

So who might "The Visitor" be? There are many out there with thoughts on who "The Visitor" might be and their significance.

Fresh beer? Stop, Neil. Please put more effort into your lyrics. This is dreadful. Briggs is the last person to tell Neil no on anything and it shows.

Recent animated music videos for Peace Trail, My Pledge, Powderfinger, and now, Hitchhiker are very good. Recent tweets, on the other hand, have not been good.

That talk of sit calmly waiting for the trey to come out of its hole, I’m not sure, but I think first time
I heard Neil make that picture of songwriting is way back. Maybe in the nineties, back in the time when
you still had respect for him. I guess, if he wrote lyric today that goes, “Im gonna ride my Llama, from Peru
to Texarkana, I’m gonna ride it good, in my own neighborhood”, you disrespect gang of vol 2 archivesuckers would
come up with some funny sarcastic lines about it. Ok, I am your fresh beer, does not look good on print, but
I still understand what that means, more than I understand what you are up to. You do not sound like a fresh beer, that is for sure.
Re: the nice animal-friendly comment about rabbits (as a vegetarian, I approve): I see where he's coming from, but the point is that songs (or movies, or poems, or novels, or paintings) aren't rabbits. They are things you actually have to work hard to build, rather than waiting around for inspiration to strike.
Yes, it's nice when inspiration comes along and does the work for you. But so many of Neil's best records have been the ones where he dug in deep and persisted with something that didn't necessarily fall into his lap effortlessly. In fact, it is from that persistence and gritty determined energy where much of the magic is born.
I also very much agree with some of The Young Oslo Neil's comment above, which is that you can't appreciate all song lyrics written on the page, in seperation from their music. Songs are designed to be heard; it's how the lyrics work in the context of a song that is important. To judge them in isolation from this is akin to determining the life expectancy of a fish after it has been taken out of it's pond.

That's not to say songs CAN'T be appreciated in written form: some of Neil's best lyrics are just as rewarding to read on the page as they are to listen to. But songs aren't poems, and if a lyric snippet doesn't seem particularly impressive in isolation, I don't think that is any cause for concern.
