NY playing a gig in Belfast for the first time ever. I need to fly back home for that.
Hopefully there'll be some Scotland & north of England gigs around the same time so I can do a mini tour.
Thanks Peter D and all!
Keep those updates coming!
See everyone down the road next summer!
This is great for Europeans to have a chance to see Neil with this cool band. If they are half as good as last year's shows from late in the year, they are in for a very special treat. Besides, how much longer can Neil keep the quality of the shows this high, the man continues to amaze! At this point,I'm starting to think he might be proof of alien life! :)
@Richard - yes, this will be a treat for Europe.
So great that more folks will get to see the latest version of Neil. POTR seems to really fire up and inspire Neil. A real joy to behold and we had a great time last summer on the road seeing POTR getting really REAL.
You maybe right about the alein life form.... he's just a lonely visitor who came too late to cause a stir...
Please, don't forget Italy and Rome!

Visit Zagreb!
Any date in Paris ?

London on presale today
The first European tour in a long time I have little real interest in.
The Monsanto Years is a good album, but as a live electric outfit, this band impresses me less. Lucas's lead guitar playing is often unremarkable and superfluous, a good guitarist struggling to find room to breathe, and Neil's own playing has been strangely pedestrian and stilted this year.
Yes, the setlists impress in both scale and content, Neil and the band are obviously happy, and his stamina is something to behold. But musically, the recent shows have often been unexceptional to listen to; cluttered with scatterbrain guitar solos that go nowhere, hemmed in with unnecessary instrumentation. Yes, the band have a lot of youthful energy and attitude. So what? So does Justin Bieber.
Still, if you've got the cash to hand, it's still possibly worth going just to see an earnestly-performed acoustic set (both solo and with the band, who are far more impressive on the acoustic songs).
Scotsman.
The tickets in Rome, Italy cost from 90 to 150 euros. Too much for a rock concert. Please help us!
Each to their own but in my opinion the recordings from the US shows have been phenomenal.
If even half the energy, enthusiasm and setlist variation is replicated I'll be more than happy.
As expected, over two hours into the sale and there were still plenty of excellent seats available for London, as well as standing tickets. The opposite of the Crazy Horse tour just two years ago, when I was hard pressed to find a decent ticket after about 10 minutes. So if you want to go, still worth looking. This reminds me of Pearl Jam in 1995, when Pearl Jam fans didn't want to see Neil Young and Neil Young fans didn't want to see Pearl Jam. And yes, the Pearl Jam tour was excellent; though as Jimmy McDonugh noted, the band never really gelled until Eddie Vedder stepped down for the European tour. As good as Vedder was, he realised that the band didn't need two frontmen.
Al - I don't think this tour is terrible, I'm still looking forward to an evening out with the best musician in the world. The acoustic songs are great, the "gretsch" country-rock songs are great. The "old black" songs? Done so much better by Crazy Horse and Pearl Jam, in my opinion.
Scotsman.
I'll be there in Amsterdam on Juli 9th. Wanteed to go and see Crazy Horse in 2013, but was unable to go. Although I am not very fond of Monsanto Years, there is still plenty of good stuff on the setlist to make a great evening.

O2 Arena 2013 with Crazy Horse was a mess - extended solos and self indulgent.
I'm with the flying scotsman - Ms Hannah will probably be in tow - am I allowed to say that here?

The tapes I have from the USA tour are magnificent, Neil's best in years to my ears. I love Crazy Horse but for me POTR have the edge. Really excited about this tour. Must get a Berlin ticket if that is the last night of the tour.
@Scotsman: Good to hear from you as your opinions are always well thought out. I do think you're in the slight minority with your POTR thoughts vs. Crazy Horse. To many of us (certainly me), this music with POTR is fresh, vital and creative, whereas the music with CH has become much more meandering and self indulgent. The last several tours with CH bored me to tears. I no longer see/hear any "musical fluidity" it's literally just noisy bombastic aural waves of sound going nowhere.
Ok, rant over--Crazy Horse will always have a special place in my heart.
On another topic, you seemed eager to get the Blue Note album, but I don't think you've commented since its release. I assume you were underwhelmed--am I correct?
Take my advice

Amsterdam secured! The venue in Sweden looked very cool, but it being mid-week and somewhat more laborious to get to, going Dutch this time. That'll be two days after Black Sabbath in Helsinki!
TopangaDaze:
Likewise!
I think the problem with the 2012/2013 Crazy Horse tour was basically one of planning and pacing. The setlists were very top-heavy, with the first few songs taking up nearly an hour, and Ramada Inn and the extended Fuckin' Up both going on for another 15/20 minutes or so. The rest of the show was then very rushed and something of an anti-climax, with curfews in many venues. Had the setlists been a bit more adventurous and better-paced, then the 2013 tour would have been better. The sound has admittedly become more sloppy in recent years, but I suspect this may be Mr Young's fault as much as anyone's.
I agree POTR is a creative band, and they sound great on the songs where every band member has a distinct role. These tend to be the acoustic songs, or the songs played on the Gretsch. When Neil sticks to rhythm and Lukas takes the lead part, or vice-versa, they sound good (although Neil's guitar playing is still not at it's best). On most of the "old black" songs, however, there is simply not enough room for both guitarists in the soundstage - the songs start on one high-energy level and stay there, because there is so much going on at once, everything crammed into a small musical picture frame. Contrast that with the dramatic, tense rise-and-fall Crazy Horse 1976-1996 sound, where Neil's guitar has a huge amount of space to dance around in. Sometimes less is more.
I actually really enjoyed Bluenote Cafe; again, though, I thought there were some problems with pacing. I don't think the track sequencing worked as well as it could have done, and some of the recordings on disc two were clearly from substandard mixes. The mix on Ordinary People is particularly poor, for instance; dissapointing for such a significant song. The mastering of the album buried Neil's guitar a bit, which is a shame as his playing was very good in 1988. Overall though, I thought it was a fun album, albeit one that should have been released before now. It would be interesting to hear this album in it's original 1988 sequencing (assuming the two differ somewhat) to see which is superior.
Scotsman.
Thanks FSM & TD for the banter and chatter.
More to come in 2016.
It never seems to get old when discussing Mr Young and his band of bands....
Any idea when those Sweden tickets will go on sale?
The wife and I had a Europe trip planned on airline miles we received as a wedding gift. Needless to say, our early itineray has changed since Neil announced the tour. My wife might want to go to the quarry in Sweden more than me!
@Marshall they were released this Thursday and all tickets are unfortunately currently sold out. :(
Oh no! I was hoping "Slutsalt" didn't mean Sold Out...my Google translate says "Not Available" and was hoping they hadn't gone on sale yet.
Now for plan B...
I've got a finger in the air for 2 for the Sweden show if anyone accidentally bought too many!
How come there ain't no dates in Denmark? I see plenty of empty calendar space. We would love so much to see Young and his fantastic new band here in Denmark. Could be in Herning or Horsens.
Roskilde
Got my tickets for Paris, june 23, 2016. Really happy about that tour and this band.
It will be the 12th times seeing Mr Young. :-)
There are a few tickets up for Sweden. Randomly checked tonight and scored my two! Much easier than I was thinking, and half of what I almost paid on a Swedish Ticket Broker.
Glad you got your hands on a pair! Will be quite an experience to see Neil in this very special stage in an abandoned ore mine.
It's a scandal! The tickets of the concert in Rome, Italy, cost too much. Please take action.
Helsinki added: 2016-07-04, Hartwall Arena, Helsinki, Finland.
Looks like I'll be seeing Neil and the guys twice this summer!
Got my ticket for Paris on June 23. I can't wait for this concert.
Neil Young in Madrid 16,17,18 of June Mad Cool Festival https://www.facebook.com/dirtyrock.info/photos/a.183324535065528.47129.173335309397784/992725340792106/
Rumor is Neil Young will be performing here in Israel in July 2016. Can anyone confirm?
I know rumors are hot and heavy that Springsteen will be playing Israel, but I haven't heard much about Neil playing there. Personally I'd love him to do so, but if he does, be prepared as there will be many "speakin out"...
Take my advice
don't listen to me
Not Spain - what does it say about the Spanish - compared to Italiana - that Neil doesn't bother to visit even Madrid ?
"Politically/ecologically-charged,” - that might explain why Neil ain't including Spain - not even Madrid..
Neil BTW: is a long-time electric car fan...has done his own conversions and once said that that "music can't change the world but maybe electric cars can". No - he really said that
...Google it !
Anyone want a free ticket for tonight at Amsterdam Ziggo Dome? I had an accident and sadly can't go now! I can email the ticket to whoever wants it...
