Unlike nearly all his contemporaries who are content to vacuum up the cash with greatest-hits shows, the 69-year-old Young continues to plow forward, playing new songs and deep catalog material.
That had him on point -- in fine, strong voice throughout, fully committed and locked in with the band in a sharply constructed set.
Promise of the Real is perfectly matched with Young, capable of handling the folk rock that made up the first third of the show and cutting loose on the rockers, new and, with a blazing, long "Down By the River," old.

From the time a pair of women in floppy hats and cutoff overalls came out tossing grain on stage and watering flowers to open the show, through the final stomp and ring of "Cinnamon Girl," the concert ran three hours 20 minutes -- the longest show yet for Pinnacle Bank Arena.
It was also one of the arena's very best shows, right up with Paul McCartney's 2014 concert. That show was sold out. This one should have been.

Did Neil play Hippie Dream for a specific reason? Is he taking shots at Crosby again? Hate to make this a negative thing, but I'm simply curious.
Wow Hippie Dream! I've been taking a serious foray into Neil's 80's albums for the first time. And Hippie Dream came up and I heard it for the first time about 2 days ago! Great song!
Hippie Dream has always been one of my favorite Neil tunes as I've mentioned here once or twice. Clearly it's largely about CSN & Crosby, but the lyrics are also deep on other specific and broad levels.

Perfectly encapsulates Neil specifically and also works as a global truth for us all. It's one of the truest purest lyrics he's ever penned...
I think he played it last night about himself as much as Crosby, but I've never really felt Neil puts too much intellectual thought into the specific songs he plays. However, it does seem the POTR has freed him up in significant ways. A 3 hour 20 minute show speaks to that--very impressive for our 69 year old hero.
3 hours 20 minutes! Folks in Nebraska got their money's worth. That's more actual work then I do in an eight hour day at my job! Seriously though, would love to hear Hippie Dream live and I have never taken Neil's advice at the beginning of that song.

Take my Advice
Don't listen to me
It's such a great paradox, and to me, Neil has always been and will always be the ultimate musical paradox.
I think we can all agree on the length of these shows and they should be savored just like his acoustic retrospective shows last year. Our hero is delivering the goods live.
It's a different story on CD/Vinyl, etc.., but I've plowed that road before.
Here they are after three hours, plowing into "Hippie Dream"..with 29 songs there's no time for those long, drawn out jam ends- everything is always moving forward.
