Cher Covers Neil Young's "Mr. Soul"
Cher covers Neil Young's "Mr. Soul"
Cher covers Neil Young's "Mr. Soul" on her long lost 1975 album Stars.
This was her first solo album, post divorce from Sonny Bono. The album has never been released on CD and is only available on original vinyl. Video art is of vinyl album cover Stars.
We've never heard this before or knew existed.

I wish I still didn't know it existed.

That is the most bizarre thing I have ever heard.

OK..Cher is great...but this may be one of the weirdest/worst cover songs ever recorded...

Actually after listening to it again (thought I was a little judgemental for only listening to it once)I have to admit it sounds even worst. I have to ask...why? Why would she do that? And you say its a lost record.. hmm. Whoever unearthed it should sentenced to listen to it.

tres bizzare, oui.
That thing is clean, mean, and cher-ine. I think it's excellent cover in a style she only does with a familiar voice you can recognize. She's stretching her reach into a genre she doesn't noramlly go to.It's a record company clown's 3 ring circus.
I generelly enjoy covers that stretch the imagination and interpretation of a song. This does that with that familiar bass line all the way thru.
What d'ya want for nothin'? Rubber biscuits?
I shouldn't be eating while I'm listening to this...
It isn't THAT bad... I mean, ever heard that ball-less cover of Mellow my Mind by Simply Dreadful?
I've always loved that album. It's a lost classic, in my opinion.
Great version, I like it. Get`s better as it goes along....and I agree with Sony, I`m always interested in covers that have been interpreted by an artist who is prepared to put something gutsy and original into it, which Cher certainly does here.
Harm - yes, I agree, that is one cover I really do wish I hadn`t come across. Simply Dreadful!
Cher was the first singer i ever heard singing this cover,, didnt even know NY had done it too.. i've not heard his version,, nor do i care to,, dig what she does with this song,, like all her songs she gives it feelin n emotion,,and maybe you should eat as u hear it again or clean out the wax in ur ears.
