Last month, a tribute to Neil Young called “Comes A Time” was held in Burlington, Vermont.

Don't be denied "Don't Be Denied"

Earlier this month, the BBC announced a new Neil Young hour long documentary entitled 'Don't Be Denied'. The documentary will be shown on October 31 -- just a few days prior to the expected release date of the first set of the 'Archives'.

Thrasher's Wheat has been graciously offered a few tickets to make available to our readers for an advance private screening on Monday 29th September in London.

If you're interested, drop us an email to thrasher@thrasherswheat.org with SUBJECT: Don't Be Denied Screening.

Submit by Monday, Sept. 22, 5 PM (London time).

Yes, for $19.67 you can see Neil at the Philly Spectrum

The album cover for the unreleased "Time Fades Away" was taken at the Philadelphia Spectrum on the 1973 tour.

This year the Philadelphia Spectrum will be torn down to make way for the latest in trendy entertainment centers. But not before Neil Young plays a final concert on Dec. 12.

We're totally pumped about this and have our GA floor tix in virtual hand for the concert. And maybe we'll try and re-create the album cover and bring a rose and a peace sign?

So here's some news for everyone who wants to see Neil and Wilco at everyday low prices. How about tickets at $19.67???

"Tickets at $48, $78, $97, and $250 will go on sale on Friday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. exclusively ComcastTIX.com, 1-800-298-4200, the Wachovia Complex Box Office, and select ACME locations. A small number of GA floor tix priced at $19.67 to commemorate the opening year of Spectrum will be made available at the box office only on Friday (Limit two per person). There will be a limit of four tickets per person for all other price levels. Fans can visit RememberTheSpectrum.com to pay tribute and showcase the history of the famed arena with artifacts, video, photographs and memorabilia."

UPDATE 9/16: When this video was posted, it was assumed that it had been uploaded by the official YouTube Neil Young Channel. Commenters have since pointed out this is not from the official channel but a similarly named channel. Thus, we can't really vouch for it's authenticity.

Shelter me from the Powder in the Finger

We've always found the analysis of Neil Young lyrics to be quite fascinating.

And we're not the only ones. Of all the mail and comments that we receive here at Thrasher's Wheat, nothing compares with how frequently the topic of "Powderfinger" comes up. While many long time fans sort of roll their eyes at the subject, it seems that no other song so transfixes the more "casual" fan.

A quick recap. The definitive lyrics analysis of "Powderfinger" was done by Mark "Powderfinger" Klus way back in 1995 on the rust@fish server. Mark "Powderfinger"'s original analysis was quickly dissected and expanded.

But even today, the question of what does the song "Powderfinger" mean continues to be the source of endless theories.

We've had these letters and comments piling up all over the place and thought the time had finally come to try and consolidate to find a more permanent home for these far flung interpretations.

So here are a few thoughts below that we're seeding this thread with.
