Don't Be Denied!
As a side note, last time we posted pre-sale info, a few folks wrote in suggesting that we shouldn't announce this on TW. But here's our thinking on posting pre-sale info. Fan pre-sales have become somewhat of a joke. Every ticket scalper in the country has this info way in advance of the average fan. And the ticket brokers will be out in full force with their automated buying programs scooping up the tickets while we try and decipher those squiggly CAPTCHAs.
So we're just try to give Neil fans a heads up on this. The more legitimate Neil fans snagging tix means the fewer go on the market via scalpers. Which we think is a good thing.
And if you have something to say regarding ticket prices, take it over here. Because we have all been there before.
Also, see North American Fall 2008 Neil Young Tour Schedule.

Why is that darn Worcester concert on Dec. 13th such a secret? I'm goin' crazy!
Neil, as great as he is musicaly, is ripping everyone off. After 35
years + of buying Neil tickets, I am drawing the line this time.
You folks always excusing Neils prices are just the suckers Neils hopes you are. NEIL IS TOURING FOR THE $, PERIOD ! He wants to suck in every dollar he can at YOUR expense. He got rich charging reasonable prices for many many years. He doesnt need to charge what he's charging , to
make alot of $. GREED.
I am travelling through the states at the time, from Australia where I am now. But there are no options in the pre-sale checkout for will-call (despite the FAQ saying there is), nor international shipping. So I can't get any tickets for the Detroit-Chicago-New York shows I have planned my trip around, very frustrating.
Would be my dream to see him at Madison Square Garden (which said no tickets available after 5 minutes anyway), how am I supposed to buy tickets? Will the general public sale be any better? I thought that would be even more prone to scalpers snapping up all the tickets in 2 minutes.
I was on at 10:00am for NYC tix - no tix avialable at any price level. what a joke. The only ones getting tickets are the brokers. Why do they waste our time? so frustrating for real fans......
So are the GA floor tickets for the front section of venue? Next to stage?
I thought I saw MSG floor GA tickets as well as floor reserved?
Who's in front? Reserved or GA?
I don't want GA floor and be behind seats. That's just stupid.
confused
Madison Square Garden is the worst place you can ever see Neil. Who would pay big bucks for that kind of sound ?
If he's gonna charge big $, at least play the smaller , more intimate halls like the fall 07 tour.
Toronto Tickets on Ebay for $600 a pair. MSG Floor GA tickets....which are still available are already on Ebay for $300 a pair plus $40 shipping.
What a joke.
I just went online and various tickets came up at different price levels. I passed though.
$ 254 for about 40th row in Madison Square Garden is absurd.Over $ 500 for me and wife to sit in the middle of the floor in a place with shit sound.
For $ 134 ea, I can sit on the opposite end of the arena as the stage. $ 278 for 2. When did this price absurdity begin ? God, is Neil real trying to cash in on his fans while he can ? Seems pretty fucked up to me. Disapointing Neil.
And I quote..."Attending concerts is not mandatory." - NY
Fifty years from now when another generation who are into the music can only WISH they were alive when Neil was around and TOURING, would probably give whatever for just the chance. They'll have the videos and the recordings. Heck, they'll have ALL the Archives in their hands by then! But they won't have Neil live in front of them.
Just some "food for thought" folks. And I'm getting hungry!
It took a lot of work to get my ticket for MSG this morning, but it was worth it! The first time I was told no tickets, but I tried again later and was able to purchase one.
I don't understand why people are so bitter about paying to see Neil in concert.
I paid $10.00 in 1974 to see CSNY.
Today I paid a lot more than that, BUT I believe Neil's worth every penny.
I don't have to excuse anything!
This is what I believe, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
What I do know is that I'll have a great time 12/15/08 breathing the same air!
Marian M.
I've never seen a concert at MSG - is the sound really THAT bad??? I hope not, I paid the $300 (with fees) for two distant floor seats.
Also, what happened to Philly, I thought tix were supposed to go on sale for that show as well.
Does anyone know why the Nov. 13th date is a mystery as to the venue? Whay, oh why, have you forsaken the DC area Neil???
-Jim
Hey, I've seen that the MSG sound system has been improved recently..
http://www.bagend.com/madison.htm
maybe this will stifle the critics?
Sorry to tell you that guys but it's maybe others than Neil who take so much money, because here in Europe the tickets for summer tour was around 48 to 80 Euros.
I payed precisely 47,50 Euros (40 US $ approx) to see Neil in Colmar, August the 15th. And he play 2 hours and 20 mn for 10 000 people. If I had to pay 300$ to see Neil, i would not pay that kind of price, NEVER, FOR ANY ARTIST !!
ok so i tried getting tickets today and was online right away but i had no luck. i then called up music today and the guy i talked to said they sold out in 2 minutes. he then went on to tell me that only about 10 percent of the tickets were presale. so i then went over to ticketmaster and noticed that they are having an online presale on friday. do we need a password for this presale? if so if anyone could help me out that would be great. my email is michaelbills9@gmail.com obviously im not a scalper just a fan trying to snag a GA seat at face value. thanks everyone. peace
mike
I need the MSG ticketmaster presale password please.
First, Thrasher says it's going to post them but where are they? Second, if you can't get them at Neil's official site where the hell are they posted? It just becomes a big joke if fans like me have to leap through hoops of fire to get this info. Just scrap the presale. It's just a big bleeping joke at his point.
I'm at prplrchvs@earthlink.net if someone could help me out here, please oh please.
MSG ticket - I had trouble getting any Madison Square Garden tickets initially, then couldn't get a pair of tickets so I did then next best thing and got a single Tier 1 ticket. Later in the day they must have released more tickets because I managed to order a pair of tickets. So I now have 1 single ticket which I don't need. I'm happy to sell it at cost to any NY fan. Pls email me at dan55@wharton.upenn.edu if you're interested. Its row 46 and the ticket cost around $280 or so all in.
Even though I just posted the fact that I have an extra ticket, I just checked the MSG pre-order and wanted to let people know that there are still single tickets for sale on the site as of 11:05PM tonight.

Use the password POWDERFINGER
Anyone out there willing to provide the pre-sale password for the December 5 show in Toronto? Would really love to get some decent seats, as we have never seen NY but have been lifelong fans. Can't seem to find it anywhere...would be immeasurably grateful!
I paid about $22 to see Neil and Crazy Horse at the Catalyst in front of about 200 people in June of '97 and I was no less thrilled to have the opportunity (which I took) to buy Neil tickets for the MSG show for about $275 each. Bottom line is I've never left a Neil Young show and not been blown away. At this stage of his career he is better than ever and I feel incredibly fortunate that I will get another opportunity to see him. Do I wish tickets were cheaper? Yes. But memories last a lifetime and anyhow its not a mandatory event last time I checked.
i don't understand...
why are US tickets so expensive?
i bought tickets for the November 29th show in Halifax...
GA tickets were 75$
Lower bowl tickets were 100$
and Upper bowl were 59$
that's tax included
what's with the big different in price?
-Marc C
Prices are high because it's a business. If 'the powers that be' charged $50.00 for the best Neil tickets, he would become irrelevent as a national touring act. And that's the way it is-this age-2008! Business folks would say, Mr. Young is washed up. what with charging 50 bucks for his best ticket, let's put him in the bargin bin.
why do people need these presale passwords when you can be a registered user on his ticketing website and get updates on presales?
there's still toronto floor seats at $75 for dec. 5 (fri) available, and i'm looking at the website right now 9:50pm Eastern Time?!
-dontspookthehorse
im confused. so there is RESERVED FLOOR seating and GENERAL ADMISSION floor seating at MSG? can anyone clarify this for me. thanks
I also don't know what everyone is complaining about...I logged on at 10am, 9/9 and got 2 $75.00 GA floor seats at MSG. I didn't even have a log-in yet so I had to create one. I had ZERo problems. Im sorry to hear it wasn't that way for all the Neil Fans trying to get tickets. I cant wait...going to Farm Aid next week and MSG on 12/15! Every major touring act is pulling in this much a ticket nowadays- if not more. I'd much rather pay $300. to see Neil then $500. to see Madonna. Sorry but thats where our commerce is at now. I agree with the dude who wrote about the fans 50 years from now; I'm a 28 year old- HUGE NEIL FAN- this will be my 15th neil show, I love the beatles, the doors, Hendrix, even Nirvana but I'll never get to see them... I can still see Neil though. He,the stones and Dylan; the last of those legends. Stop complaining people- YOU ONLY LIVE ONE TIME...then your DEAD.
Its only money...don't horde it as you can always make more.
Neil is the greatest, with only Dylanin his league. that being said, I am still not blind and I am and have been deeply disturbed by Neils ticket prices lately. It's gettign stupider and stupider....... and so are the fans that defend it.
For me, it realy goes against the grain of what I expect from Neil Young- a guy who was always different in his own positive and creative way.it's very disapointing. I expect better Neil.
If he had done this in the 70's or 80's, there would have been empty halls for sure. But this younger generation today is more $$$ oriented...make it at any cost, screw everyone if you have too, as long as you make alot of $. Making alot of $ is "in" , even if you do it in a greedy, unreasonable way at the expense of taking advantage of other people. Just put your hand as deep in their pockets as you can. Shitty attitude if you ask me.
Best deal on the tour ? Winnipeg, 10/16. Seats on the 2nd level, side of the stage, first rows, $ 75.
and anyone who thinks paying $ 270 for 1 ticket on the side sections 100-200 feet from stage at madison square garden is reasonable, is just someone so "drunk" with their love of Neil that they dont see reality. and Neil and Elliot are clearly reading and understanding this and taking full advantage.
Neil is fucking you up the ass and you don;t care becasue it's Neil.
you're all out of touch with reality. you're on Neil crack.
Dont pay it and we''ll be back to $ 50 tickets shortly.Pay it and next time it will be $ 350 !
can someone explain this logicly>>
Durring last years north american tour, we had major duscussions and arguments regarding ticket prices. The main argument for $ 100-200 priced tickets was that he was playing small halls, intimate environment before 1500-2000 people.
So what now ? He's multiplied the seating capacity for this tour by 10-fold to 15,000- 20,000 people
AND THE PRICES ARE HIGHER !!!
$ 135-250 for shittier seats.
Now you tell me that Neils management didnt read all the comments from last years tour and tell Neil : Hey, these morons will defend you no matter what you charge.Screw 'em.Lets charge more and let the brain -dead fans justify it to the complaining fans !
You morons who pay these prices are the cause of price s going off the scale.
and dont tell me about wilco or Death Cab...... I wouldnt pay $ 5 to see them both together.
Wilco's website (wilcoworld.net) says the presale for the Worcester show is 9/23 with public onsale 9/25
OK, I admit that I am one of the posters who has justified the ticket prices but I have to admit I would love to understand why prices need to be so high in such a large arena ... in the small theatres it was easier to understand -- fewer fans, higher quality environment, Neil has to pay himself and his band -- but in larger arena's where you're father away the only explanation I can conjure up is he's charging that because he can. I admit I spent the $300/ticket so I can go but maybe that's America and people charge what they can charge ... maybe the idea that Neil should have sympathy for our wallets is misplaced...?
Someone wouldn't pay $5 to see Wilco? I feel sorry for you. Open your mind and ears. They are a simply amazing band which people might be factoring out of the equation in the value of the ticket prices. There is another support band as well. The cheaper theatre tour only really had Pegi Young didn't it?
To be able to see Neil Young & Wilco for $75 is an absolute bargain in my opinion. I live in Australia, will be travelling in the states and going to whatever shows I can ... I paid $80 just to see Wilco down here and would have happily paid ALOT more the show was that good. Will be interesting to see the ticket prices for Neil's shows down under in January.
Maybe the "seated" prices are too high for some, fair enough if you don't want to pay $250 ... but Wilco is definitely worth paying a lot of money to see as well as Neil.
the complainers. Get over it. I have paid more to take my wife to see a broadway show. I spend more to take the family to see a Detroit Red Wings game. I pay more to fill up my gas tank and go to the north woods of Michigan.
I just purchased 2 great seats at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan. 88 bucks each. Throw Wilco in the mix, compare to other event prices, I say it is a bargain.
The 250 dollar seats? If I had to cash, I would buy those. It is worth it to me. Those seats will sell, because the market will bear it. To those who will not spend the money, that's cool as well. But get used to it, the ticket prices are not that far out of line when compared to many.
For Coldplay, those same exact seats I have cost 190.00 each. Too steep for me because I am not a Coldplay fan. I don't begrudge them for that price though. Pay it or don't pay it.
Free will.
