Grace Potter and Joe Satriani cover "Cortez the Killer"
A simply awesome cover of "Cortez the Killer" by Grace Potter and Joe Satriani.
Can't say enough about this one as it is absolutely killer and definitely worth the view at maximum volume. Have a rockin' weekend!
More Grace Potter Neil Young covers of Down by The River and Southern Man.
Thanks axebox!

Wow, thanks for the Friday push. Great energy!
Kudos for doing something different but that didn't really work for me.
Well it certainly worked for me. I've seen Joe before and he left me a bit cold but this one with Grace is anything but.
And Grace is beautiful isn't she...?
Honestly i thought this sucked.. It's dimentions away from Neil's own versions, and Satriani is not a cool guitarist. I mean, seriously?
The vocals are a bit over the top on this one. Plus, Satriani and the trumpet player seem to be competing with one another rather than locking in. The musicians are so far away from another -- physically and artistically -- that the chemistry is not there, even for a group thrown together for a one-time occasion.
That was frigging awesome, I just love Neil covers that don't butch the originial version (or try to copy it 100%) but gives a great own version that shows how amazing just the song is in it's own right.
joe has so little emotion in his playing.. ok great he can shred the guitar i don't really care.. grace does a good job though
i cant stand this at 4:15 joe gives this look like "look at me im the f'''ing man" but that f'''ing cocky a-hole sucks give me neil back now!
this sucks
great song though
Seek out the Carrie Rodriguez/Tim Easton of Cortez. Really cool version.
Everything David Briggs hated...
Here's a pretty groovy hey hey my my cover from last night's Dave Matthews Band show. They have guitar virtuoso Tim Reynolds on tour and he broke out the flying V for it. Decent cover! http://davematthewsbandtour2008.blogspot.com/
a little insight into the world of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals...The lead guitar player, Scott Tournet, is actually the big Neil Young fan in that group and the one that brought the Neil covers to the table. If you watch any other youtube (where Grace actually plays with her band), you'll see how much they draw from Crazy Horse. On another side note, Tournet and drummer Matt Berr play in another band called Blues and Lasers out of Vermont that seems to draw a whole lot from Neil and the Horse. They even cover Fuckin' Up!!!!!! It's way more pure than this Satriani shlock.
I think some of you are nuts. Looked to me like satch and the trumpet player were feeding off each other perfectly. But I know nothing about music so maybe you ayeholes are right. And gracie cant do any wrong even if she does mug for the camera LOL
This rocked. Grace's vocals are very good I think she did very well and all you haters can kick rocks. No it's not niel, but c'mon it's a cover! As for satch and the trumpet player I thought it was quite good.
A great guitarist. Not a cool one? You're in the minority on that one.
I absolutely love this song and I love this version, but I wish the mic was about 10 inches further from her
