In other random tour news...

In the recent interview with Shepard Fairey and Neil Young in Rolling Stone by Steve Baltin, an interesting comment was made regarding future Crazy Horse tour plans and Fairey's art:
"The art will be the backdrop for this short tour that we’re doing," Young said of the upcoming Americana dates, which he described as "really a very short tour."

So. A "very short tour."?!

That news may come as a disappointment for fans hoping to catch dates around the Americanas and elsewhere around the world.

And if that's not puzzling enough, how about this other news nugget from Rolling Stone by Andy Greene where Neil Young explains Buffalo Springfield's aborted reunion and possibly touring again:
"That could happen," says Young. "But it's not happening now. I'd be on a tour of my past for the rest of fucking time, which I can't do. I have to be able to move forward. I can't be relegated. I did enough of it for right then, but there is this seed of something great still there. It's worth exploring again."

So Crazy Horse tour? Short.

Buffalo Springfield tour? Maybe.

The plot thickens.

More Neil Young & Crazy Horse 2012 tour news.

In the meantime, enjoy the Americana release!

  13. From Rolling Stone "They have also recorded an album of original material, which should surface sometime later this year. "There are lots of instrumentals, lots of excursions," Young says in the next issue of Rolling Stone, on stands this Friday. "But they're real songs. It has one that's 26 minutes long … [the tour] is going to be [songs from] the past, the present and the future."

  15. Amazing. The short tour Neil is talking about might be the Red Rocks and Outside Land dates. That could be the Americana tour with Shepard Fairey's paintings? The next tour starting in October will be The Past, The Present and The Future tour? A crazy Horse song that clocks 26 minutes. How cool is that.

  23. I guess this confirms my suspicions that there won't be any extra Austin shows around the ACL Festival.

I thought there was a very small chance they might do an ACL Live taping (e.g. Arcade Fire and Coldplay did so last year as headliners). Which would have been amazing in the venue.

But I can't see him playing on the 12th and doing 4 nights in a row.

    tickets $ 288 !
Think I'll take the whole family !!Love the music Neil, but at $ 288 for arena sound, you gotta be F-ing kidding.
Greed has overcome so many businesses and people.
    And now Neil Young too.
    These prices repesent GREED.

    I know, I know, there's cheaper seat 2 miles back.that doesn't take away from the greed of $ 288.
    I know, I know, I don't have to go.....you're right Neil..... I definately won't be going.

I know I will be attacked here and all the excuses made, but the level of greed is obvious to anyone not possesed with "Neil Young is always right" disease.

The buses, the fuel, Crazy Horse, Neil doesnt make the prices......keep going.........

  28. This One is missing:

    10/26-27-28 Voodoo Fest, New Orleans

Nice to see Patti Smith is going on tour with Neil and the Horse. She just recorded a very nice version of After The Gold Rush for her new album Banga.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree Anon, $288 is highway robbery.

But it appears they range from the $68.00 range, and also include a free copy of Americana.

I'll buy a pair of the $68.00 tickets. I'd much rather see them on a lawn somewhere than crammed into seats in Madison Square Garden, personally, but you don't always get what you want.

  30. Four inches of rain this weekend and the Saco is high and grand. Deer are in the fields. There's a stream in back of my place that comes down from the mountains. Yesterday morning it was loud as I've ever heard.

That's what the Horse will sound like when you hear them this tour. So don't worry about paying for the seats in back...you'll hear just fine and so will I.

What a great tour schedule and openers with Los Lobos and Patti Smith. Hope to see a show or two.

Speaking of great tour schedules, I see where First Aid Kit is playing Europe this Spring, opening a bunch of shows for Jack White. Then they come home to play Newport Folk on Saturday, which is shaping up to be one of the major days in Newport history with the Guthrie Family Reunion. Any chance some major Woody fans might also be on board for the day?

Should be a great time for the girls, who are getting the attention they so richly deserve. Congratulations and great job Klara and Johanna...have fun storming the castle!

  47. Folks, we have two choices: pay for recorded music and attend affordable concerts; or get free music and pay through the nose for live shows. But I need help with the following tough decision: as an Ottawa resident, do I hit the montreal show on the friday to prep for the ottawa show on the saturday, or do I stay home and take the kids to see Bieber on the friday show here in ottawa to earn extra points from the wife to spent over the winter. hmmmm. that didn't take long: another back to back with Neil - third time around. Too bad the internet and cell phones have ruined live music forever - remember the night you saw the 1986 third best garage band tour with no youtube - just the shear enjoyment of being surprised - pleasantly surprised....

    ReplyDelete
  48. Can't wait for the MSG! Anyone have pre-sale password?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Does anyone know the price levels for the Boston show? I see tickets start at $54.50 and go up to $254.50, but I'm guessing there must be 2 price ranges in between, right?

Currently, the seating chart for the show looks like it won't be GA floor but that could change. His Worcester show a couple years ago with Wilco was GA floor & those tickets were $75.

    ReplyDelete
  50. OK how/where do we get the presale code for these shows?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Presale code is "Amplify" for Patriot Center show.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks you, Michael! Now my guess is that the general admission floor tickets are the less expensive ones? I'm in a state of paralysis as to which tickets to get. It isn't the money at all - I just want to be right up front - duh.

    ReplyDelete

Back where there's no place to stay."

    ReplyDelete
  56. So i guess the question now is THE PASSWORD. Is it going to be posted on Neil's page? Where should we be looking??

    ReplyDelete
  57. Does anyone have any idea about the setlist this time around? I know he might structure it around the latest record and Crazy Horse material.

But what I'm saying is would he dig any deeper in the vault or maybe more deep cuts or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

    ReplyDelete
  58. it's The Past, The Present and The Future Tour, so...it's gonna be everything.

  60. Just heard the interview podcast on the KLOS website (URL link in peter d's comment above). Kind of surprised to hear that the digital format Pono being worked on will require new hardware for playback. I'm all for improving audio quality (I buy almost exclusively vinyl these days - though regrettably not Neil's vinyl b/c it's overpriced), but a new format that requires new hardware sounds like a losing proposition. Seems like that's part of what was responsible for DVD-A and SACD (which I invested in) never catching on.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Does anyone have info on the Philadelphia presale? Tix are thru Comcast rather than Ticketmaster, so don't know if it works differently.

  69. No artist/fan club presales for this tour, unlike the last few. Presales are through Live Nation/venues/radio stations etc. Live Nation password is "amplify," which should work for all U.S. dates EXCEPT Boston, Bridgeport and Madison Square Garden (though some folks insist it will work for MSG as well). Good luck to all.
