A Message from Neil Young

From Neil Young's Official News page N Y Times comes a message from Neil himself to his fans:
THANK YOU THRASHERS!
June 2, 2012

Thanks for your spirited reaction to "A day at the Gallery." I must tell you that we had a good time doing that piece. It was born totally out of fear. We are so scared that Crazy Horse is not good enough to promote our new album conventionally on late night TV. Imagine the disaster that could have occurred there and the damage to our reputation that could have ensued.

What if we had begun one of our songs and gotten hung up on the intro and they had to cut away to a commercial before we got to the first verse?

Thankfully, you loyal fans have been able to understand and sympathize with us.

NY

Paul McCartney Honored at Musicares

In comparison to the year 2011 -- which was "A Treasure" -- 2012 was yet another triumphant year for Neil Young and his associates.

The man's productivity, resilience and sheer drive continues to be both amazing and inspiring.

While 2011 saw spectacular achievements and recognition for Neil, including his 1st Grammy Win (for music!), Humanitarian honors Canada's 2011 JUNO Awards, and a brief reunion tour with Buffalo Springfield, 2012 in some respects produced even more amazing highlights as noted above.

Once again, we ponder that age old question: Is Neil burning out or fading away? We argue that he is neither. Neil Young is the quintessential survivor.

So we celebrate the music, achievements and all the good folks at Shakey Pictures. Onwards to 2013!

As for us? We're excited about evolving our new collaboration Thrasher's Wheat Radio with WBKM.org. So we'll see you in 2013.

peace & love,
thrasher & thrashette
ps - For all of you who help us wage heavy wheat and made contributions of support recently, thank you notes have been going out and we hope to get them all completed by the end of the year. Apologies on delay and we truly appreciate your support.

It means that much to us, to mean that much to you.

  2. SONY - yeah, you missed 2012?! No, we jumped the gun there. Corrected, doh?!

  3. yes, I am missing the link.

2012 certainly one of, if not the most prolific years of Neil Young's career. What a ride! He still can't, won't be tamed. And the Crazy Horse rejuvination is easily the sweetest frosting on the cake.

Long may you run Neil Young, to infinity and beyond!

Thanks for your superb efforts this year too Thrasher! You have made being a Neil fan all the more rewarding, informative and enjoyable by producing this site for us all to come together in love and peace, and in admiration of the music and the man who is our favorite Uncle. Long may you run as well.

  8. Thank you for EVERYTHING, Thrashman... You and the love that you shine beams from my E-mails every morning at around 9:06 EST... I feel so grateful and yet somewhat guilty that due to my current "unemployed" status I was only able to donate a measly $8.00 recently. No matter what, please keep doing what you do. LOTS of us Rusties are pure AMAZED at the love and ONLY love that pours from this blog. So fuck all of the psycho-trolls, don't let them bring you down, and PLEASE keep rockin' in the free world. WE LOVE YOU & THRASHETTE !!!

    PEACE

  10. Thanks folks.

Like we said, it means that much to us, to mean that much to you.

At the moment, we'll just say that we'll keep on bloggin' as long as Neil keeps singin'.

@Eric in sunny FLA - no worries, man. Appreciate whatever folks can put in the tip jar. As we've mentioned , the fund raising business stuff is really aimed at the "lurkers". If you're commenting, sending reviews, photos, vids, etc. you're making TW happen and that's really your contribution.

And that's what we value most.
Folks jusr sharing the Neil love.

    peace to all

  15. I have been seeing Neil Young since 1974, and I have to say, at least from my personal experience, 2012 was the best year ever. I was at both shows at Red Rocks, Seattle and Virginia (Tulsa was a bust). In all my years, I have never been right up front like I was able to in Seattle and Virginia. And if attending these shows up front was not enough, to be personally addressed by the man, Neil himself, was the stunning cherry on top of the amazing Rock and Roll Sundae of Crazy Horse.

Add to that, the chance to get to see many of my friends on these trips and to meet new ones only enhances the experience, to be with others who are as obsessed is such a bonding experience. I want to especially thank Thrasher and Thrashette for your kind and generous hospitality! You would fit right in down south!

Neil's gift to his fans, Waging Heavy Peace, was remarkable in its personalness and honesty. And it was so cool to have something from Neil that was something other than music.

The release of Journey's was such a treat, having seen the Twisted Road tour. Neil is a gift that keeps giving.

And Thrasher..... thank you.... for loving the story of the Arkansas Girls and including us in the year of review. I just love this site and would be lost if you ever stopped. I'm sure I am not alone.

I wish for you peace and well-being in the year to come.

  16. @Glen - you bet. It was great working together on your FAQ book. Folks seem to be finding it a great Neil reference.

  17. Sandy, we had such a great time seeing Neil and Crazy Horse with the Arkansas Girls! It was so much fun to re-live the memories afterwards with Frankie's tapes and party until the wee hours.

Road goes on forever & the party never ends!!!! :)

  19. What a truly outstanding year it`s been and yet again Neil has demonstrated just what an incredible and unstoppable force of nature he truly is. For me personally the cherry on the cake was hearing about the forthcoming European tour and booking my tickets for the London show next June...when I`ll get to see Crazy Horse live for the first time.
Thanks for the yearly round-up, Thrasher and Thrashette and as ever, thanks so much for what you do...it takes a lot of energy to keep up with Neil!
    Merry Christmas all!

  20. Anyone have the feeling Neil is just getting started?!

So Sandy, what exactly did Neil say to the Arkansas Girls? I'm so happy for you both! Especially after Tulsa. Guess I could search YouTube and bootlegs for it. It's cool we can watch a good part of this tour on YouTube!! Will sure come in handy when they get to Europe. Still can't wait for the movie though......

Thanks Thrasher and Thrashette for another great year of all things Neil!

    Peace,

    Steven James

  22. @Steven... he said "we love you". He said some other stuff too...

  23. Sandy.

Thanks! I found it on YouTube. That was awesome!! Here's what he said.

"Arkansas Girls, that's right. I've seen you girls before. I love you. If we ever get a good booking agent we're going to be down there some day" and then some other stuff. He seemed VERY talkative compared to Tulsa. Very cool indeed! Damn.

    Merry Christmas,

    Steven James

  24. Thanks for all you do Thrasher. I would have Loved to have been on the rail but it would have been a little to much for My 58 year old legs. We had close up seats for Cleveland and Toronto. I think Neil recognized Me in Toronto He walked up to the edge of the stage, looked Me right in the eye and nodded His head.He gave My Lady friend a big smile. I wish I could have donated more then 10 bucks. I hope to donate a little more. After tickets for Cleveland and Toronto, 2 copies of "Waging Heavy Peace" Journey's DVD, CD and Vinyl of Americana, 5 CD's and 2 copies of PP on vinyl. 2 hats, 4 tee shirts, and 2 programs I'll be lucky if I can pay My taxes. To commemerate My 25th year of sobriety I made a beautiful clock using the etched side of PP vinyl, 12 of My AA medallions and hand made broken arrow minute and hour hands. So grateful to have attended all three legs of the Rust Never Sleeps Trilogy. In 2012 I tried to wear this troubled world like a loose flannel shirt. Living My life as "The Prince of Peace" would have Me live it. I wish Love and Only Love for all of Us young and old as We trudge this Twisted Road. Doug S. Warsaw N.Y.

  25. @Jill - Terrific on the London show for your 1st Crazy Horse concert.

From what we saw this year, you'll have a blast!

@Steven J. - if this is just getting started, then we're in for quite a ride. lucky us.

@Doug - thanks so much for the update. Really, everything from everyone is appreciated. Pls don't feel obligated, esp as long as you're sharing and spreading the Neil love. For us giving back is what keeps us going with our little blog here.

take care and see ya down the twisted road!

  26. Theres at least 2 ways to get in there. The main road was closed due to work being done but this time he let neighbors drive thru on way to their properties. Went thru a locked gate, high up on a ridge with a stand of ucalyptus. Drive down past a white cottage like building, train barn ? and another larger building, for cars ? a train engine that looked to be about 1/4 size of a real one was placed into the hillside. After that a very pretty redwood grove of trees and a bridge over a small creek. On the other side on left a nicely watered green lawn with a tall tee pee. The rickety bare wood house. It looked like if a match was struck it could burn in 2 minutes. I think that is the main house. After that the barn from Harvest on lower right with corrals and pens surrounding it. Didnt see any people. Road now meets up with main road , a very winding, often 1 lane, something like 8 miles back to Hwy 35. My buddy says he drives like a nut and almost him him before.

  27. I posted last night, but it got deleted somehow (probably operator error). Thanks, Thrasher and Thrashette, for all you do. This year in review was incredible, as was the year itself! Wow...when I think back, it's hard to take in all the wonderful things that have happened, like opening one present after another - 2 cd's, Neil's book, and the shows...oh, the shows!

Although the Tulsa experience was unfortunate, I was so lucky to see the guys at Red Rocks, Seattle, and Fairfax. Each show was a varied an intense experience. To be addressed at the Fairfax show was the grand finale. :)

I can only imagine what 2013 has in store, and I am so happy for the folks in Australia and Europe who will be experiencing what I did.

Someone asked the other day, "Why do you ride that Crazy Horse?"...My reply was, "Because it takes me to a place no one else can"...

I can't wait to go there again...

    SandCowgirl (Tami C.)

P.S. Arkansas Girls still <3 Crazy Horse (now more than ever)

  28. he spoke to me also but I didnt get any I Love Yous. I handed him a white ZZ Top cap to sign as it was all I had. He gave me a rather disapproved look and "ZZ Top ? We're beatin that" was all he said. He then got into a old black Caddy limo, picked up a guitar and it drove off. He did sign the cap though.

  29. Thanks, Thrasher!!!!

It was a year for the books and I am glad I was able to be a part of it with the rustie tribe. With Seattle, I re-claimed my rust. Will always remember it...
