Touring with the Horse in 76, after arriving in Oslo Norway from Japan, we crossed Europe and played a great rock and roll hall in Rotterdam. Then we went on and toured the the US. An album was made and a film was created to memorialize that world tour. Perhaps the Horse was at the first peak of its powers. It was a great tour. Coming soon in NYA Volume 3, the film and the record.

Smack dab right between Odeon and Budokan! Oh man these 70s era gigs are muchly anticipated. Looks like the tape ran out on them boys a coupla times… Good times! First official take of Country Home as far as I can tell. Very cool that Volume 3 will get to rewind slightly to bring us more Crazy Horse ‘76. Conspicuously absent from Vol. 2 was film too… Yup, that’s what we’re lookin for.

ReplyDeleteThat looks like the full list to date, Thrasher. I’m not aware of any master list of them on the site. Today I just had scrolled from ‘69 to ‘19 to get a feel for where they fall on the timeline. One feature that is new to me is the inclusion of a song card next to a song’s title in the set list, so you can jump right to that song if it appeared on a release. Still stoked to give it a listen this weekend! This show would be the second-earliest timeline concert, as well as the earliest (as of yet) official full show featuring Poncho-era Horse.
ReplyDeleteAlan, that was a real loss. Lanegan had such an iconic voice. If there is such a thing as grunge, his vocals are the quintessential representation of that feel. He was one of the earliest originals, too. It was truly an epidemic that wiped those guys out. We were lucky to have him as long as we did. He has a huge catalog, so I’m exploring it more deeply now. Blues Funeral is my favorite right now, hope to find it on vinyl. Electric guitars and beats, killer lyrics.

I love Country Home and it is amazing it stayed unreleased for so long. It was perfect on Ragged Glory.I have not yet listened to the new show but will soon if I can find time in between Mark Lanegan albums and vids.
He was a tough rascal and I relate to him in some ways. He made some fantastic music. You all should check it out.
