“The horse is out again!” Says Neil Young! Crazy Horse - May 1 & 2, Fresno, CA

Last week, we reported on news from Neil Young's Archive the tantalizingly tasty tidbit that "The Horse Is Ready to Leave the Barn".

Now, a new post on Neil Young Archives confirms that Neil Young & Crazy Horse are coming back May 1 & 2 in Fresno, CA.

“The horse is out again!” Neil writes. “Galloping across California’s great San Joaquin valley with Fresno as the destination… NYCH presale at NYA, home of the horse.”

  1. So, Tower Theater in Fresno does not have any advertised gigs on May 1&2. Should I go to box office now and just wait in line? FYI< I can see Gordon Lightfoot there Friday April 27 so it won't be a wasted trip, though some trips are better wasted.

  6. "No rehearsal" that's the Neil I like. Taking a risk, confident and playing with the Horse. Wonder what 'a different colour' means?

  7. I don't know man. You got to have general admission floor for a Horse show. Don't you?
Not liking the venue. Love to go for sure, but I need me some GA to entice me across the continent.

  8. seems a very sudden announcement. weird town, Fresno to have it. I could have had a decent seat at 85.50 that includes all charged. Balcony Sec G first 2 rows. but at 997 miles its just too far. If I still lived in CA yes I would go provided that no Psychedelic Pill songs are performed.

    1. Agreed. Very sudden. Interesting that he has POTR and Crazy Horse gigs booked. I predict he has a bunch of new songs to road test.

  9. So tempting, but it's just enough out of range for a mid-week show. Hopefully these are warm up gigs for a tour. I haven't seen a NYCH show since the epic Cow Palace concert in 1986.

  10. Kind of agree with syscrusher. GA in an arena with Arena Molina and the boys seems the way to go. But I've seen them most often from a seat way back in a shed, mostly. So I'll take them any way I can. But I do agree, that sitting in a small fancy theatre for the Horse, seems odd. Not very Rock N Roll. But it is a horse of a different color, after all...

  12. I could be wrong but hadn't the cancelled tour in 2012/2013, when Poncho broke his hand, a gig in a small fancy theater kinda like this one? (I think the gig was cancelled due to the injury)

** I found the article, they we're supposed to play in the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, maybe not as fancy as Fresno (I don't know ;-) ) but also a small venue with only 1800 seats.

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Neil Young and Crazy Horse will not play at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester next week now that the group has canceled its European and U.S. tour dates.

The tour has been canceled due to guitarist Poncho Sampredo’s hand injury, which needs additional time to heal, the band announced.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the festivals where we were scheduled to appear," the band has said in a statement. "As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events."

  13. So Billy has recovered from his stroke? Or is someone else playing bass? (All I know is it's not me.)

  14. I agree it looks like a warm up. but for what? I saw the warm up for Rock in Rio 2001 at Warfield Theater SF. GA or assigned seats makes no difference to me as long as Im there. the guy will always keep you guessing.

  24. The venue is perfect for NYCH... Check out this awesome episode of Californias Gold for a behind the scene look at the place. I grew up in Fresno and have seen hundreds of Rock shows here... https://blogs.chapman.edu/huell-howser-archives/2006/01/09/warnors-theatre-californias-gold-8008/
