Air Guitarist Shreds "Down by the River": Bradley Cooper on Tonight Show

OK, so when this YouTube started circulating earlier this week, we admit that we basically tried to ignore it.

But as the tweets, shares, likes, etc started piling up, we could no longer divert our eyes.

It is quite well established by now that Jimmy Fallon tremendously admires Neil Young and goes to considerable lengths to showcase his "Neil Passion".

So on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon we have yet another Neil Young tribute.

This time an air guitarist who shreds "Down by the River". 1st you may say, what the heck is that? Well, watch. 2nd, you may say who is Bradley Cooper? Well, so did we. But some of our dear readers straightened us out and here's the scoop: He is an increasing popular American Actor. Bradley Cooper was the main star in the Hangover Movies, and is the sniper in the new movie American Sniper. He has played supporting roles in many other movies such as Yes Man, Wedding Crashers, the A-Team, Failure to Launch, & Guardians of the Galaxy. (Thanks Daniel, Tim & others for setting us straight!)

OK, so the Neil news is slow this time of year...

Maybe Neil will announce something soon ... a tour, an album, a new band ... or something really unexpected...

In the meantime, enjoy!

  1. Who is Bradley Cooper? Thrasher, where have you been hiding?

  2. Bradley Cooper is something of a serious actor -- he has two Academy Award nominations (for Best Actor in Silver Linings Playbook and for Best Supporting Actor in American Hustle).

I also wouldn't discount the importance of Jimmy Fallon's Neil Young skits. I would be surprised if these sketches (and the youtube videos) aren't introducing the first few tastes of Neil Young to a whole new generation of fans. They also demonstrate the level of "obsession" that we Neil Young fans reach and undoubtedly peak peoples' interests. I'm all for these.

  7. At 15:00 he addresses the tired arguments against Pono (Scottsman, paying attention?) ... explains why 192 is superior ...

  8. This dude is the spitting image of my first college roommate (hair and all) who used to shred the bar circuit and win all the air guitar contests doing AC/DC, Priest, Angel, Sabbath. Alas no Neil in his catalogue back then.

Like T tho, I never heard of this guy.

  9. @DonDiegoAckerman - why hiding behind haybales, naturally.

@thegabeman - yes, it's hard not to discount the importance of Jimmy Fallon's Neil Young skits. As you say, it exposes a whole new generation of fans to Neil Young. But we thought the whole idea was to expose the Neil generation to Cooper?! ;)

    @ rustedbugs - now that's saying something.

@ w san jose CA - maybe because we find so much of what is considered to be pop culture actually to be total trash? Just a reminder, we're all about the what. Life is just too short to waste on all the garbage that is spewing about. We have our filters and he's just made it through to be wheat worthy. It would seem that Brdaly Cooper has emerged from our chaff pile.

    @Dan1 - big & good news! thanks!

@ SONY - maybe it's the same dude afterall???
