That's right. Thrasher's Wheat Radio is going to Europe for Neil Young & Crazy Horse's tour this summer! But -- actually -- that's a big maybe.
As covered in this issue of Broken Arrow Magazine and on last night's Thrasher's Wheat Radio Hour broadcast, our hope is to make over to Europe.
Here's the deal.
Thrasher's Wheat and WBKM.org would like to provide live radio coverage of this summer's Neil Young & Crazy Horse World Tour leg in Europe. The aim is to broadcast live from venues around Europe with fan interviews before the concert and instant reactions and reviews afterwards. NYAS members, Rusties and Zumans, come be a part of the show!
This is something that hasn’t been done before and it would be historic if it can be pulled off. As you might expect TWRH is a not-for-profit organisation and funding such a trip is a big challenge. Thrasher's Wheat, WBKM.org and others are now trying to raise the necessary funds for travel, logistics, tickets, lodging and other expenses. In order for the trip to be viable, attending 4 - 6 shows would be ideal. But maybe fewer, maybe more. Right now, we are looking to the Neil Young community for any assistance. So if you can make a contribution, provide lodging, transit, tickets or any other support, Thrasher's Wheat and WBKM.org would love to hear from you. Reach out to us at thrasher@thrasherswheat.org. We would love to hear from you with your suggestions and support.
Let's all see if we can make this historic tour coverage happen so that we can bring the music and magic of the Neil Young & Crazy Horse Alchemy World Tour to all of those who are unable to make it to Europe this summer.
This is really all up to you -- our loyal and faithful readers here on Thrasher's Wheat, our radio listeners and the entire Neil Young fan community.
Let's all not be denied.
Hey, we have to get rid of that "Maybe". You HAVE to do this!! So, I don't live in Europe, so can't offer a place to stay, etc. but maybe you could start a PayPal account (or something like that) specifically for the trip. If it turns out that you cannot make the trip (but we will try not to think that way), the money could be donated to Bridge School.
ReplyDeleteTickets are going to be hard to come by.... Not sure which shows you will be at, I guess it will depend on how it all comes together!! You are putting yourselves in our hands....
Be on my side, I'll be on your side.
Sandy
Thanks Sandy.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely need to get this "maybe" to YES. :)
Appreciate the suggestions. Right now, we're trying to gauge support from the community and figure out logistics.
We already have some ticket support in Glasgow and accommodations in France. Depending on what folks can offer, we'll then look at $ situation. Right now the funds aren't as important as tickets, lodging and transportation.
Hope to see everyone this summer and bring tour news to the Neil world!
peace
Hey Thrasher,
ReplyDeleteDo you have any schedule / geographical constraints? Will you focus on the June/July Central Europe & UK/Ireland leg, or are you also considering the August dates in Scandinavia?
How many people will you be traveling with?
Darth - right now, things are pretty wide open. The closer to the kickoff in Berlin, the better. Ideally, we would hit the 1st 4 or so shows. Basically a week and 3 guys on the road.
ReplyDeleteAs for the July & Aug legs, depending on how this shakes out, we may push back into the middle and last leg. But we think broadcasting at the June leg would be ideal for listeners planning to attend a show.
Thanks for the interest!
Hope to see everyone this summer!
Hey guys, I'm an aussie, broke, and I've seen Neil 4 times and still haven't heard him play Cowgirl In The Sand. Can anyone provide me with tickets and airfares to Europe as well, so I can overcome this?
ReplyDeleteOnly jokin and good luck - you're passion & dedication deserves its reward!!!
Sounds like June will be more likely than the Scandinavia dates. I don't live in Europe currently so my options are a bit limited. If you do happen to plan to go to Helsinki, please update this blog post - I know a bunch of people in Helsinki (no promises though). I am popping in for the Cologne gig in July, so if you happen to hit that city at the very least I can chip in to buy a meal (Schnitzel und Bier) for Thrasher's Travelin' Trio!
ReplyDeletethank you in german means "danke".
ReplyDelete"dankie" sounds also nice...tom from berlin, counting of for european tour start on2.6.13
hello Trash, Human-Highway.org tries it's best. Hope to see you at the pre-fest in Berlin and of course at the tour start, 2 June.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Baron.
