Neil Young's LincVolt Hits The Road!

LincVolt @ Joshua Tree, CA
via LincVolt Continental | Facebook

It looks like Neil Young's long, long awaited roadtrip with LincVolt has finally begun.

Posting on LincVolt Continental | Facebook:
I started my day by visiting Keys View at Joshua Tree.

Nice to get away from the LA smog that had blown into the Palm Springs area. We're compiling data and stats on my fuel economy and the pounds of carbon emissions that I'm saving. look for that soon.
It seems that LincVolt Continental | Facebook will be where regular updates will be posted of the journey.

Where will LincVolt stop next as she makes her journey east? Only The Passenger knows for sure. A White Feather from the North is a good sign.

Good luck LV. Have a great trip on your journey thru the future!

ps - Don't forget. There's a hole in the sky.

  1. Hybrid cars are getting popular here in Oz, yet our electrical grid is still substantially dependent on coal, so the carbon footprint can often exceed that of a petrol car. Our car industry is on the verge of collapse & should be investing in much more research along these lines. That's what makes Neil so inspiring - at least he gives a shit and makes an effort, just like in his music.

  5. Hi Ken - no I simply have two eyes and a brain that functions. See I'm not sucked into every left wing mantra about climate change and carbon footprints, etc. I think for myself. I do my own research. I think critically.

A critical thinker would question the notion of carbon emissions being a bad thing for the environment. Don't plants give off carbon dioxide?

    Why yes they do.

Don't human beings exhale carbon dioxide?

    Why yes they do.

Hasn't the Earth been around for billions of years compared to the infinitely small amount of time that humans have populated the planet?

    Why yes it has.

Our knowledge of the climate is extremely limited. If Neil gets off on this Lincvolt project then good for him. If it takes Fork in the Road to get to Psychedelic Pill then all the better. But my eyes are wide fucking open and electric cars aren't going to be used on a massive scale anytime at all in the foreseeable future. It's called the marketplace. Not many people want an electric car.

  6. Well Mr. Anonymous it appears that you have a brain that "functions" well enough to type, but yet logic, reason, science and FACTS elude you... Plants (e.g. chlorophyllic photosynthesizing vegetable life forms) produce OXYGEN, not CO2. You have been listening to too much Rush Limbaugh and huffing too many FOX "News" fumes if you believe otherwise (pun intended). Facts are facts and just because you re-type something that someone else typed on the intrawebz, or you heard while driving your SUV listening to AM radio hate-spew talk-radio does NOT equal REALITY... I do not know just why you are trolling a NY blog with your contrarian pollution, but might I direct you to the nearest AIR SUPPLY fan-forum instead?

    PEACE & LOVE

  7. Sorry, you are right. Thanks for opening my eyes. Let's keep relying on oil and the global marketplace. Let's ignore the possibility that the accelerated carbon emissions of the last century maybe or maybe not changing things faster than at anytime in human existence. But most of all, lets ensure we keep our jobs in manufacturing, mining and other such pursuits. And as our knowledge of the climate is extremely limited, why bother knowing any more? Let's throw caution to the wind - Lets all adopt the right wing mantra that climate change is a crock of shit, and hey let our two countries join up again for more wars to ensure this status quo remains.

Obviously electric cars are not going to be used on a massive scale soon, certainly until we can make them more economically viable and reliable. But this can only happen thru research. If we can get the jump on this, maybe western manufacturing can get back to where it once was in the future. Wouldn't you like to eventually not have to rely on overseas oil and inferior cheap overseas products?
I've worked in defence, mining, and I am not a rabid lefty as you may presume. But I'm not so nearsighted to think our resources are infinite, especially with the population set to explode over the next century - see Asia. The rise in carbon emissions has been in as small amount of time to human existence as human existence has been to the Earths. Yes plants and animals emit carbon dioxide, but maybe the balance has been tipped. Is it not worth being more cautious? Nah, you're right, to hell with caution and greater understanding, full steam ahead!

  8. Thanks for comments folks.

We can safely say that this dialogue is exactly the discussion that LV is intended to provoke.

    So way to go Anon!

btw, this is not left/right. This is the ultimate centrist issue and you will soon be see as on the fringe.

get behind the wheel or get off the road.

  9. I think having a on board generator in a car is the thing of the immediate future with hydrogen coming along when the technology comes. It will still have to burn something to recharge the battery, but will be really efficient so that's good. Water does not burn and never will

  10. Please, let's not turn this into a stupid Left vs Right thing. I can get enough about that from the Murdoch press.

I come here for some relief from that.
