From Neil Young's Patron Call earlier today.  Many thanks to Mike "Expecting To Fly" for updates via Rust! (And thanks to Road Dawg, also!)

Neil w/ glasses?!

Neil was fun today on the Patrons Zoom meeting.

He started with a joke that he was not Neil but AI Neil. AI Neil will write all his future songs and he sounds just like Neil Young. Fun joke. Neil had glasses on and he talked a bit about that including that his plan is to get some junk yard frames and put corrective lenses in them in the future.

He spent 3 hours this morning listening and approving ATMOS recordings of Zuma, Rust Never Sleeps, and Comes A Time albums and talked about how this took him back to those sessions.

NYA Vol 3 will include a lot of first takes of recordings. He said he liked to start there to hear how the history of the song as opposed to the take that made it to the albums. He said something like 78 or these would be on vol 3. Vol 3 should be out by the end of the year. There was some mention of how much fun he had playing with Stills. They rehearsed together before Light Up The Blues but not too much. He said they played together for an hour every Wednesday for 2 months before the show.

The album Ragged Glory was culled from a bunch of live in the studio recordings. He said some of the unused takes are quite trippy and will be released as something called Raggedly Glorious.

He said his next tour would start in July on the West Coast in a very small venue next to a larger more famous venue and would be announced on the NYA site this week. He said 80 percent of the songs played would be ones he has recorded but not played live. He specifically mentioned Prime Of Life (which of course was played in Arizona in 1994, not sure how many other times.) Also If You Got Love. He said he has been rehearsing 16 or 17 of these types of songs. Tour will be solo acoustic.

While talking about an upcoming video of Mirror Ball live, Neil specifically mentioned Song X and his favorite song from that time Scenery. Maybe those will be in the upcoming setlist?

It was great to see Neil and he seems pumped up to get back on the road.

Expecting To Fly
Excellent update Mike "Expecting To Fly". Many thanks for sharing all the details.

So solo acoustic tour with "80% songs I've never done in front of people". Whoa.
This'll get all those "rustie grains"  all fired up, for sure.

Road trip planning begins!

  4. song x, it is hard for me to hear that shambolic song solo?

    Truth be Known?

If he comes to Chicago, I am going.

  5. Looks like Ticket bastard will be used, trying to prevent scalping but how will they prevent TM from their Platinum BS pricing??

  6. Well, it’s probably just me, but after four years of quiet, I want noise! Not Snore Fest.

  7. Solo, band, acoustic, electric… we’ll take whatever Neil we can get!

Could we use a West Coast venue for the TW meet up? How about Seattle?!
We do have the best Craft Ales of anywhere in the country. And a few other good local traditions @ concert time.

    Your brother Alan in Seattle

  8. Intriguing. I'm going to guess the The Ford Theatre. It's a smaller outdoor venue right near the more famous Hollywood Bowl. I hope NYA subscribers get first dibs like we did for the gigs in 2018-2019.

  9. Has he said USA tour? Neil could just as likely surprise everyone and do a tour of Scandanavia only. He might also define acoustic as only his banjo or with a string quartet...

  10. "I said solo, they said acoustic". I remember that one. Also: Have "It's an Angry World" And "Someone's Gonna Rescue You" been played live? Given the right date (August, please) I could make it on my monthly 50 Euro public transport ticket across Germany to Denmark (Scandinavia!) by train. Organic catering to concert audiences is no problem in Europe. Electricity production based on wind and solar in some areas of Europe reaches between 50 and almost 80% by now. At this point a tour doesn't get any cleaner than that.
Also in August I would volunteer as a deckhand on W.N.Ragland to make for an Atlantic crossing that is almost free of carbon emissions. A Hippie Dream, I know.

  11. @ 51JEEPSTER - PRETTY PHUNNY

@ ANDREW - Song X solo would be worth price of admission.
Abner - won't you please go to Chicago for awhile?!

@ akiv1971 - right, not the NYA fan exclusive ticket system that Neil worked so hard to setup??

We see that the tickets will be under the "Face Value Exchange" program. hmmm.

Most likely this will cause tickets to be re-sold for many multiples face value despite TM promises. They earned their nickname for a reason.

@ WBKM.org - You want noise? How about Walk Like A Giant acoustic?!

@ Brother Alan - deal. check spam folder

@ Knowledge Nomad - Ford Theatre sounds like a good call. We'll know soon.

@ David - hopefully this 1st leg will be one of many legs around the world.

@ Dionys - "I said solo, they said acoustic".

yes, 1st thing we thought of as well. This won't be limited to just acoustic guitar. We'll get Ol Black and pump and piano and banjos and who knows what else?

    Volunteer opportunities await!

    1. They listed Platinum presale first, hopefully artist presale will come today & prevent TM BS

    2. The artist can set the resale maximum, that's a positive for the TM ticket exchange, but TM platinum is just as bad or worse than scalpers.

  14. Does the tour announcement illustration on NYA front page indicate that the whole circus will be moved by trains?

  15. Apparently an upcoming release of Chrome Dreams was mentioned as well. Take my money!

  16. @Wardo : I second that!!!! Chrome Dreams was definitely mentioned as if everyone already knew about it. Either I missed that, or there hasn’t been an (official) announcement yet. And yes….. take my money.

    Peace 🙏

  17. Neil also mentioned Chrome Dreams. How did this get overlooked by whomever made this post? Anyways... I was the one pestering him about it in the Zoom call, lol. He said "any day now" it would be up for pre-order and it is based on an acetate they had. He confirmed the "slow version" of Sedan Delivery is on it, but did not confirm anything else. Hopefully, they did not use the same takes of Pocahontas, Powderfinger and others from the Hitchhiker sessions. Anywyas, "any day now" could mean any time between now and the end of the year, lol.
