The Neil Young Song of the Moment on TW is the prescient and ahead of its time "Shut it Down" from the album Colorado released in November 2019. (Thanks John Q. !)

"(Have to shut the whole system down)
That’s the only way we can all be free
(Have to shut the whole system down)
Start again and build it for eternity

***When I look at the future I see hope for you and me***
(Have to shut the whole system down)
Working, working for eternity, working now, working now
Have to shut the whole system down, working now"

  1. Well, I guess most of are never going to hear Archives 2 or any of the unreleased albums. You know, since most of us are Over 60 and COVID-19 is gonna get us.

    Rock On!

  2. Being 68 with a compromised immune
system I can relate. I thought I’d get to hear
Homegrown but there is still no official announcement from Reprise. This could have been out months ago it was ready in December
Either put it out or shut up about it.

  3. is that you "Uncle Eddie"???

    kinda sounds like it.

but seriously, just like "Uncle Eddie", the hour is getting late...

Working, working for eternity, working now, working now ...

  4. The timeline gives release dates for Homegrown of 4/18/20, Archives 2 7/24/20 & Rust Bucket 10/16/20. I understand with Neil that doesn't necessarily mean it will happen but I believe it will.

  5. Bavaria is about to shut down. Next Monday we will wake up to a different reality. 6000 schools are permanently shut down with families to get their child care organized and with the grand-parents not available, for obvious reasons, everything will be downsized or cut back to a minimum.
When we announced this morning that our school will switch into an online-homeschooling scenario it started to dawn on the students (grades 5 - 12) that this is not just an unexpected windfall-holiday for the next five weeks. Outside at 8 pm the city of München is remarkably quiet, not your average Friday evening when everybody is getting ready for the weekend. People are staring at screens with an avalanche of announcements about what is going to close down, what is to be shut down next or cancelled or given up for the time being. "Shut it down" is the song of the day and thinking about what really matters in life. You might be able to sit that one out if you live in the sticks somewhere. If you live anywhere in a big city or near one it makes sense to prepare for a new normal.

  7. @ PLD - thanks for updates.

We bet the releases happen. maybe not the exact dates, but within a few weeks.

so relax & chill Art & Joe. We have a high degree of confidence that you will live o hear these releases. And many many more hopefully.

For us? We'll be looking fwd to NYA Vol #IX in 2044.

@ Dionys - thanks for the report.

At this point, it is nearly impossible to find factual, neutral info on anything controversial.

So unless you're deeply embedded SME, good luck.

Keep us posted on anything helpful to share.

This is where the united global rustie network excels in separating huge volumes of chaff from the minuscule

@ Jonathan - we disagree here and see neil still hoeing is own roe.

Neil wants to tour. But logistically, if he can't get insurance, venues, truck drivers, etc, than he can't tour.

So maybe we should all show up at his old BA ranch and have a big woodstock 2 or something?

no rain or be the rain?
    peace

  8. I live in one of the three states left that still have no reported cases as of now, but everyone is preparing in a reasonable way at this time. I see no visible panic here in Idaho, but everyone seems to be aware of the appropriate precautions and are doing so in a calm and organized manner.

As for Jonathan, I hope he can appreciate the fact that he may be misguided in his assertions about the current situation. I would encourage him to take appropriate measures to at least minimize he and his families risk, without judgment. This is not about the media, but about global health. The media has their agenda; I get that. But this virus is documented and is real, so why not take reasonable precautions? Not to do so would be foolish at best. If not for yourself, then for your family, friends, and neighbors.

    Peace

  9. There is no panic or hysteria in my neck of the woods. OK, some people bought a lot of pasta, noodles and toilet paper, but that's it. What is breathtakining is the calm, organized, reasonable, disciplined and orderly manner in which this fairly rich and well-informed society with a comparably well-organized health system (mandatory health insurance for everyone, wages being paid in case of illness, you guessed it, the devilish "socialist" benefits, a well-funded health structure with as many medical staff as it takes) is going down on its knees. But still there lies some awe and even fascination in the fact that a very active and vibrant country is being put to stand-by mode by everyone, citizens, government, economy.

  10. The" prophecies " of Neil Young ... really ?

Just finished dancing an old fart jig to one of Neil's best , studio version of Slip Away from the YOTH .
Have played that song in Algonquin Park , with a portable ... wolves have responded to the guitar solo ... pure and closest to the source .
I find the suggestion of his music to be prophetic for human means , none less similar to self serving cults like religion , and their use of the word " prophecy "

  11. Who cares what Neil Young says, he doesn't know diddly about viruses or everyday Americans. He's pathetic if he has become a citizen just to vote against Trump.
We have enough divisiveness here without a socialist Canadian idiot spouting his poisonist piss.
Wish he would pack up and move back to the whole he was born in.
NEIL, growup and get out of the 60's dude. Your generation didn't change anything for the good. More drugs, more homeless, more dept, more immoral, more hopelessness.
You're music and views have done absolutely nothing to improve the world.
    You're a total waste!

  12. @ Ft MAC & 3/14/2020 01:18:00 PM - nothing like Neil over the target to get the trolls outraged.

thanks for the encouragement! it only makes us stronger.

    peace be with you.

  13. Throw your hatred down, it only perpetuates the divisiveness you speak of. Anger and hatred drags us all down and creates more of the same. Look in the mirror and ask yourself if anger and hatred have ever solved anything. The answer is no, so move forward with your life and learn how to love yourself and your fellow human. Become the solution.

    Peace.

  14. Who cares what unknown thinks! Has unknown graduated high school? Maybe a Russian Bott? Easy to throw out a bunch of four letter words with no facts! Does unknown even know what Socialism means!

  15. Thanks Dan for the calming words.

Obviously, THEY are panicking while WE remain calm, cool & collected.

we all know who's going come out of all of this intact and who isn't.

this is why we have urged for so many years to build a trusted network (like the rustie/human highway communities) for the time when the wheat shortage hits. these guys are choking on chaff and don't know what to do.

this is definitely the AFTER THE GOLDRUSH times, which have long been predicted. if you weren't ready and expecting these days to arrive, this is to be expected and we're sympathetic.

Just as it is not nice to fool with Mother Nature, Thrasher's Wheat can be a harsh mistress. (but we're not hiding behind haybales or throwin' rocks at the moon.)

the archer has split the tree and the loading has begun ....

  20. @ Unknown - congratulations.

your letters are being published and replied to by Neil himself on NYA @ https://neilyoungarchives.com/news/2

this all strikes us as a little too cute & clever.

obviously, you're trying to make Trump supporters look as vile, deplorable & stupid as possible. it's exactly clear what's going on here.

there's a man over there with a WiFi hotspot and a keyboard in his hand...

    dig?

Here's what neil had to say to you on NYA:

    Dear Unsigned,
Like you, as an American citizen I am free to speak my mind.
    thanks!
    neil

  21. @thrashers: ..... after reading the letters on NYA last night, it felt like I was living in Nazi Germany. But after awhile I started to make the same connections you allude to. It’s as if every hateful letter was written by the same person. I can’t imagine every Trump supporter is filled with that kind of hatred. At least I hope not for everyone’s sake. Neil showed great compassion in his response to these hate filled letters and I can only imagine that he made the same assumption that this was one or two different people who couldn’t come up with any examples of why they support our president. After all, that was really what Neil was asking for. I feel sorry for anyone who lives in such hate and fear. Very sad indeed.

    Peace.

  22. Thanks Dan.

Yes, good to see others are picking up on the deceptions here.
what we wonder is why NYA allows Letters to Editors from non-subscribers?

Obviously, if these were NYA subscribers, they would know exactly who was writing, rather than a string of Unknowns masquerading as individuals but clearly the product of a single demented mindset.

It is unfathomable that anyone w/ this much hate would subscribe to NYA.
Or maybe it's worth it to subscribe in order to harass the host??!

hmm , where have we seen this before ....

it's all one deja vu ...
    (which is celebrating 50!)
