The California Fires and The Damage Done: Daryl Hannah | Instagram

Neil Young and Daryl Hannah loss of their home in Malibu in the recent California fires has brought considerable loss, pain and despair -- yet Neil's optimism springs eternal.

And so does Daryl's, as well. From dhlovelife | Instagram:

We all mourn together
and then life goes on
Each shooting, hurricane, flood, each fire
with each new tragedy
Ever more survivors fall away
And disappear from daily routines
A depopulation of trauma
So many
Left alone
Left behind
A shade of invisible
Falling out of step
frozen in ash
Obliged to deal with continuing ramifications
charred remains
aching for lives lost
Struggling to find a path
To make a future
To be able to look back

Their strength, spirit and resiliency is truly inspiring.

Be the rain. They need it. We all need it.

  2. Dear Neil and Darryl, So sorry to hear of the loss of your home. How traumatic and It's infuriating that the president pretends Global Warming doesn't exist as the fire threat grows worse each year. The world is reaching a tipping point. It's scary stuff. I grew up in Santa Monica and have friends in Malibu. Peace be upon you. I hope you didn't lose too much irreplaceable stuff! I am so sorry for what has happened. Alan in Seattle

  4. Whenever I see the big fire coming
Coming to burn down all my ideas
I try to hold to my thinking
    Remember how it feels

    Looking right in your eyes
    Hearing your happy laughing
    Seeing your blue eyes shining
    Hearing your happy laughing

    So the moment came
    And the big sky rained
And it put out the fire
    Except in my desire

And I think about how good it feels
I wanna walk like a giant on the land
I wanna walk like a giant on the land

  5. Hi Darryl, I know it's been a while since the fire, but I just found this site. I'm so sorry for your lose. I did some work on your Trans Am from the movie Kill Bill. The last time I saw the car, it was at your house in Malibu. Did it get burned too? I'm happy that you and Neil are together.
