  1. "my music doesn't get along with itself!"

Excellent interview, layman's terms on what he's doing with PONO, and why. Pretty straight forward. I didn't realize the player would be able to handle several different file formats, that's the deal. a new delivery system. GO Neil GO PONO.

  2. make me FEEL younger? I'm all in for that, Neil!
BTW but.... was watching the Blu ray of Dylan's 30th Anniv. @ MSG, the very end of the bonus/backstage rehearsals is a real cool clip of Neil working out "Forever Young" organ & harmonica. Neil "forever" Young. Love it!
I am no longer faceless & anonymous.

  3. A Message From Neil Young:

Thanks everyone for all of your support. It has been and continues to be gratifying to me to see how many of you are supporting Pono and our revolution in the way people can listen. Now we will have a choice that is as convenient as it is great sounding. We are celebrating our Freedom of Choice.

I especially want to thank Elliot Roberts for his tireless efforts to bring you the great signature artists we are offering with their special limited edition players. More signature artists seem to sign up every day! These artists love you to actually hear their creations exactly the way they were made. They, like myself, have been waiting a long time for Pono.

My talent at signing posters is getting a great workout. I’m happy to report that most of my signatures are legible. Ha Ha. I don’t think there will be any more posters offered though!

I just wanted to say thanks on behalf of everyone involved in PonoMusic.

We could not have done this without you.

    Neil Young

  4. So Dvd-Audio was a failure because it required more speakers....

...Blu-ray "didn't work" because it required a disc, and people expected pictures...

It sounds like Neil wants to be working to improve streaming audio rather than creating another physical player. As it seems to be the physical stuff that's causing the perceived problems.

But for me, the whole point of vinyl and blu-ray is actually putting on a physical album, not just hitting a button on a digital player. Now, I'm not kidding myself it actually sounds better (again, the science is totally against that), but the action of putting on an actual record makes me enjoy it much more. It involves the listener.

And having a picture on the screen (or proper full-size album art) can be great too. It awakens the senses. The Americana blu-ray was excellent for this reason.

I wonder how long before 24/192 is considered old-fashioned and inferior to whatever the next big thing is? I'd give it 2 years. We'll probably eventually reach totally non-scientific 345/27373 quality. As I always say, Neil moves on. And so does the unsatisfiable heart of the consumer.

    The Flying Scotsman.
