VIDEO: "Danger Bird" - Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Melbourne, AUS, Mar 13, 2013

Here's a glorious YouTube video of "Danger Bird" by Neil Young & Crazy Horse from Melbourne, AUS concert on Mar 13, 2013.

This was the tour debut of "Danger Bird" at the epic 3 hour first night of Melbourne.

It's been almost ten years since the song last played at Radio City Music Hall, New York City, New York, on 2004-03-20 per Sugar Mountain - Neil Young Set Lists.

Unfortunately, video cuts after ~11:00, but still has great vibe and feel.

And I know we should be free (With the rain pounding on his back he recalls)
But freedom's just a prison to me (the moment that he cracked long ago in the museum)
'Cause I lied to keep it kind (with his friends)
When I left you far behind. (And like those memories the rain keeps pounding)
down, down, down

  1. If I had been there, I would have either: 1. cried 2. shit my pants, or 3. cried and shit my pants.

how can his voice be so strong; how can the band be this good, this tight.

There is an amazing version of DB on the live CD from the 1996 tour.

What a great way to start my weekend: thanks thrash.

  2. Ah ha! Now I finally know how he gets that "windshield wiper" sound , as described by David Briggs...if if they would just pull out "Look Out For My Love" from the Crazy Horse bag of wonder....

  5. Goosebumps @ 6:53 ish. congrats melbourne, cortez and DB alone are equivelent to the entire Cleveland Show last october. Not that I'm one of the haters. I enjoyed the show, its just that those two songs are particular faves of mine. we are all lucky that they can still perform to this magnitude. enjoy all! and Trahser--- thanks again for all that you do. I'm a loyal daily visitor, can't thank you enough.

  6. I wish I could have been there... I mean they played 'Cortez The Killer', 'Dangerbird' and 'Barstool Blues'. How rare is that? Zuma Night!

  8. If I hadn't seen all of these songs played by Crazy Horse multiple times @ Princeton-by-the-Sea in '96, I'd be green with envy. One night Neil and the band did 4 songs from Zuma. The stage was 6" high & there were only 150 people with tickets. I will always hold those shows dearest. So glad some of the aussies got to hear that stuff. I hope they love the new songs as much as I do! Alan

  9. eh, pretty good version but not the best. ralphie loses the beat big time at the end. when you've heard the absolute BEST version ever (that would be the catalyst 1990 version) all others pale in comparision.

  10. I am in absolute concordance with Anonymous 8:09 PM... And the way NY strokes, pets and fondles Old Black is downright erotic... If I were a female it would make me moist ha ha !!! And to think later in the same set he will brutally rip her strings to shreds for "Like A Hurricane" !!!
