  2. Thanks. This is my favorite on LeNoise so far. Can't wait for the Ipad app!

  3. Is this not the quintessential Neil Young? I realize it's early but this might be NY's best. Seems to me that everything he has done before leads us to Love and War. It's perfect.

  4. I just listened to the NPR stream for the first time, and love the album. I can see why some people feel like the sonics interfere, but I think it's a beautiful sound. This one will definitely be in the CD player for a while. I put the ear phones on, and started listening while I tended to some other things, but then Love And War came on, and stopped me in my tracks. All I could do was sit back and listen. Wow, is all I can say. It takes me back to the first time I heard Music Arcade, that transporting hushed feel. But even then, this is in a class by itself. Great song, great album.

  5. I don't understand why we can't watch some of the videos here in Germany. When I start the video it says:
"This video contains content from WMG. It is not available in your country".
This is the same with the video "Angry World" and "Hitchhiker". For some reason "Walk with me" works.
    Any explanation for this?

    Love, Liza

  7. This is one of my two favourites of the album (the other one is 'Hitchhiker'). I do not like that much the other songs which I think are noisy and 'ruined'by the sonics mix - I would have preferred Neil 'solo acoustic'

  8. So far I've really taken to the two acoustic songs. Love and War and Peaceful Valley Boulevard are my favorites.

But I love the rest as well. The electric guitar over the bed of sound that Lanois creates is interesting, definitely something new.

Sometimes the reverb on the vocals makes me think of a grungier Landing on Water - just add big 80's drums.

I also think that some of the material here would be great done in the more traditional folk-metal fashion with Crazy Horse. But I love the experimental style of the album.

Neil said that it's like, pieces of the song are coming back at you all blown up. Like throwing the song up in the air and walking through it and the pieces stick to you. Or something. Well, he's absolutely right - that's what the electric songs seem to do anyway. The "sonics" are like the song coming back at itself all rearranged, so there's two songs.

I find myself wondering what the opposite of Raw would sound like - that is, take the actual song out of the mix and just leave the sonics, so there's no Neil, just Lanois, how would that sound? Like fractured pieces of song just floating around in this weird, empty space...

  10. This album sounds amazing. I've heard 90% of it and like a lot of great music, I wasn't too sure of it at first. It's really really starting to grow on me now, though, and to my ears, it's one of Neil's best and most unique records yet. Without a doubt.
