Speaking at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Guadalajara, Mexico in September, Musk said:
"I think probably we'll name the first ship that goes to Mars 'Heart of Gold.
I like the fact that it's driven by infinite improbability, because I think our ship is also extremely improbable."
The Infinite Improbability Drive allows the fictional "Heart of Gold" — which looks like a giant, white sneaker — to cruise through every point in every universe at the same time. The drive is powered by a Bambleweeny 57 Sub-Meson Brain and a cup of hot tea.
More on 2017's space oddities on Neil Young regularly tweeting cryptic messages of late, and the relationship between SpaceX ZUMA payload and "The Visitor"?
Unfortunately Musk has just tainted the song name Heart of Gold. Just another Sociopath Billionaire who may eventually live a fee years in space (and if so, will die of cancer in short order, due to the high levels of radiation in space. The population of Earth will stay on Earth. There is no Planet B. Earth, our only home, needs protection if the humans are to survive. Burning fossil fuels will hasten the demise of the humans. ReplyDeleteMusk is an oxygen thief
ReplyDeleteAbner, There are few things more aggravating than wealthy, privileged people using their outsize leverage for short-sighted, self-centered purposes. From my part of the world, I have a bit more hope in that I’m at least seeing yard signs, etc. for both major candidates. As I’ve alluded before—being directly in the eye of the electoral college storm weighs heavily.
ReplyDeleteI’m sick (almost) to death of Jabba the Hutt squashing the oxygen out of democracy to pull his fat out of the fire and feed his own gluttonously engorged ego.
His car factory is just outside Austin, right down the road from my house. He’s dumping and trashing the Colorado River. I’m sure he’s happy to trash Mars too, while irritating Neil Young fans and Douglas Adams readers alike.
ReplyDeleteI almost wish he’d stuck with just producing Teslas. Maybe if he kept with one project long enough to experience lasting, meaningful success (not just $$$), he wouldn’t so rudderless and miserable that he feels a need to run the world. I’ve been saying for ages, heroes can easily turn into tyrants. I get the feeling folks don’t recognize the full implications of that
ReplyDeleteElon Musk has crossed the line for his own personal gain, and hopefully he will someday have to answer for his outrageous behavior. But if Trump wins this election, our republic will never be a free nation again. The potential of our country becoming an authoritarian nation is beyond comprehension. But if so; we will witness the worst of human nature. The world will never forgive us.
ReplyDeletePeace to all……and vote🙏
Musk has been “secretly” communicating w/ Putin for years. In fact, just today on the news wire it was reported that Putin asked Musk to not launch his Starlink communication satellites as a favor to Xi Jinping of China, in an effort to thwart communications from Taiwan. Musk agreed. Meanwhile, Kim Jong Un has North Korean troops in Russia to assist in Putin’s efforts in Ukraine. Iran is also aiding with missiles. One guess who they ALL back in the US for president.
ReplyDeleteDan, as far as I’m concerned Musk is transparently attempting to buy people’s votes. It is beyond unethical. I’m not shocked a wealthy white guy with family roots in apartheid South Africa has a distorted understanding of democracy and humanity. But I’m disappointed any time people don’t recognize and call out this level of behavior for what it is.
ReplyDeleteAll NASA and Space related is utter bullshit. Santa is more credible.
ReplyDeleteNASA is all about weapons & military intelligence. YBAIS
ReplyDelete@Meta : Musk is ‘LITERALLY’ paying people to vote for Trump. How can this activity be legal? Let alone tolerable. It’s beyond my comprehension.
ReplyDeleteTrump and his MAGA cult have created an unprecedented amount of hate and division in our nation, and half the people of this country have deemed it acceptable. I find it deplorable.
We are now the divided states of America.
It appears to me that we as a nation have unconsciously condoned this madness of hate speech. Never in our history has it been considered appropriate for government officials to speak in such a manner. Yet now even the most vile language is simply dismissed…..Words have power. And they have consequences that we are witnessing today.
This hate, and prejudice have always existed throughout human history, but in this country we have attempted to create a culture where people could rise above it. We are a nation of immigrants. But Trump and his cult are literally attempting to destroy our democracy, and turn it into a dictatorship. When Trump belittles people, his crowds laugh and applaud. They should be ashamed of themselves. They have been conditioned to hate. There may come a time when they realize their folly, but for now they are simply throwing gasoline on the fire. And fire is all consuming.
Peace to all 🙏
So, we don't like him?
ReplyDelete@Art : It’s not the person; it’s the behavior.
ReplyDeleteThe Maga-Clown could change all of his behaviour and still maintain his disastrous political positions. And there is no question that there are Trump supporters who are well behaved and friendly persons. But as long as these cultists do not understand that the so-called American Dream has come to the end or will have to end because the current American society and the political system cannot make good on it's promise anymore, there are enough sharlatans around who will promise God knows what to bring it back. Obviously quite a few Americans like to dance with rattle-snakes. But it is not true that snake-handlers are not bitten because of their faith. Increasingly the outside world has come to the conclusion that an American cult in which faith is the answer to all questions and problems is preparing to finally take over the political system. Unfortunately its not the American people first who might hit the hard bottom of reality should the orange guy get elected.
ReplyDeleteThis article was published in the Guardian in the UK today. I find myself agreeing with much of what Mr Monbiot writes, and especially his conclusion - please don't do this to yourselves...

I never knew a man could tell so many lies
ReplyDeleteHe had a different story for every set of eyes
How can he remember who he's talking to
Cause I know it ain't me, and hope it isn't you
There are maga clowns who are "well behaved and friendly persons." But probe more deeply and you will immediately find the racism and sexism that haunt all those who deny that the US is not racist and sexist. They don't see the systemic nature of bigotry and prejudice just because they are elements in the system. In this sense our educational system has failed us by not teaching according to systems: the same is true with respect to global warming denial and climate change, gun control, and mental health access. The first step is to teach along the lines of ecology and tie problems together. This is far more important than teaching traditional civics (this is where the brainwashed teach that there is no sexism or racism). At the pub last night I saw what I think is the "standard MAGA asshole." White man, thirties, pseudo educated, sales manager at then local Harley dealer, surly and aggressive just as soon as you call ANY of his views into question, and overtly hostile when you demonstrate that he is wrong- although he will never admit to any such demonstration. This model came with the refusal to call Harris by her last name and instead mispronounced her first name. My response? Why not call Harris "Harris"? Why insist on the first name? Are you on a first name basis or are you the standard sexist? News people do not call Trump "Donald"! So easy to see through this awful, disgusting, violent, repulsive reality of American trash. Dionys is right to quote Neil on Nixon. Please, as a flood up, read Hunter S. Thompson's obituary of Nixon. All this shit was cooking back in the 60's and 70's. Now it well done.
ReplyDeleteThe American reality is that this country has always been guilty of racism, right from the very beginning. Just look at how we treated the indigenous peoples of this region of the world. Fortunately at least half our country has chosen to rise above it, and work hard to live up to our potential. Unfortunately there has always been this underlying ugliness in our country. Trump has simply brought it out for all to witness. It’s always been here, and will continue to be here until we as a nation make the decision to reject it once and for all.
ReplyDeleteNo one is born with this disease of hate, it is taught. We need to educate our children, and ourselves to the truth of the ramifications of hate, instead of pretending it doesn't exist. The truth is that it does exist, and it’s our responsibility to educate ourselves so we can recognize it when we see it. To deny the reality is dangerous, and irresponsible.
We all like to believe that we are the greatest nation in the world, but we’re still a work in progress. We’re still a long way from being able to make that claim. But it’s never too late to start building on what we’ve already accomplished, realizing this hate is only holding us back. We need to move forward with positivity, and illustrate to those who choose hate that we are stronger as a nation without it.
There is little hope for the diehard MAGA cult, but we shouldn’t disregard those who may still be willing and open to the possibility of moving or country forward. We will always be stronger together than apart, and hate has always been our biggest obstacle.
Hate is everything you think it is. Love and only love will prevail.
Peace to all 🙏
