  1. Thrasher,

My pleasure. That's what I love about this site - speedy information but also the chance to digest and chew the fat on the content. Nothing ephemeral here.

And keep your editor's hat on as in the last hour there's also a new note from Neil about Vol 3 and touring. Nothing specific more a thanks to everyone for being on the archives journey. but's it more news.

    1. Seemed a bit cryptic about the fate of Vol. 4.

  2. @ Knowledge Nomad: It sounds to me like Vol. 3 is going to be an expensive investment, as it appears to be huge. So I think if it sells well, then Vol. 4 will be a sure thing. But; if it doesn’t, then perhaps the label will resist another huge release. Maybe Neil will need to create more (smaller) volumes to get everything out.

Although it may not be prudent to read too much between the lines of his letter, but I do agree with your cryptic assessment. Time will tell, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.

    Peace 🙏

  3. My priority or wishlist with regards to future releases at this point in time
    - as in the past new songs and albums should have the right of way
    - NYA Volume 3 is very much anticipated, ideally also as vinyl outtake editions (such as the one being released for Dume)
    - vinyl re-releases covering my CD gap (Sleeps With Angels through to Bluenote Cafe), no matter if they come as anniversary edition stand-alones or in ORS boxes
    - NYA Volume 4 covering a comparable time span as the previous volumes, prepared with similar curative care and the works, if possible
    - apparently it dawns on Neil Young and his friends that they have to make a decision on quality vs. completeness; with the pace of release for these NYA volumes I do not expect a Volume 5 before having had to invest in a hearing aid (Is it still fun to listen to Neil Young's music under these conditions? Any reports about this issue would be appreciated.)
    - while I still will buy it I am not so sure that I need the promised Toronto release, obviously a kind of tour item which will introduce the New Cray Horse line-up, but then - these musicians do not have to prove anything (to me), if they come around, I'd be hooked anyway

Not that my priorities or wishes are something anyone should care about, but I have them still and so do others.

  4. @Dionys : I share your thoughts on the release schedule. Neil’s output over the past couple of years has been substantial, and I’m hard pressed to think of any other artist who has released so much material in such a short amount of time. They just keep coming!!!

As much as I enjoy the historical aspects of these archival recordings, I still find his current recordings essential. It seems like he’s still got much to say about now; and for me, that’s important.

I fully intend to support whatever Neil has in store for us, and will continue to welcome it with joy. Including the Toronto show, as according to him, it was an epic experience.

As a vinyl lover, these recent vinyl releases from the Archives is absolutely wonderful. But the cadence in which they are being made available is financially draining. A first world problem of course, but a problem nonetheless.

“my problems may seem meaningless, but that don’t make them go away”

    Peace 🙏

  6. Dan, you had me laughing about the Neil Young quote, I have not been thinking of that line, when commenting on my own comment but of course our hero has been there already.

  9. With "Stand for Peace" now being available as a download and streaming on NYA, could it be that this is the first known track for the solo electric album somewhat cryptically announced in a response to a letter published on NYA? Or will it remain a one-off release? It also could be an extra closing track for the Ragged Toronto Glory album.
