Neil Young's Fireside Sessions #5: Barnyard Edition | NYA

Now playing, Neil Young's Fireside Sessions #5: Barnyard Edition | NYA.

"Harvest"

This is the 5th installment of the "Fireside Sessions". Earlier, we had a look back at the 1st 4 installments of Neil Young's Fireside Sessions. Neil writes on Times Contrarian | NYA:
The sessions will continue.

They’re good for us all. I hope we don’t run out of songs, but probably that would take a long time. These songs are for all of us, left, right, in between. ALL.

We are stronger together.

“Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere”

and the fun begins ....

Also, here's a look back at some of the scenes from Neil Young's Fireside Sessions #4 on NYA.

  1. All of these have been wonderful but this Barnyard Edition just hits it out of the park for me...

and War of Man was so great...this session is my favorite of the 5 now...maybe

    1. I agree Jonathan. Nice to meet the (non-human) animals and War of Man is always an acoustic highlight.

      Scotsman.

  4. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Barnyard Edition is a real winner. Love seeing Neil play for and talk to the chickens. Great visual effects from Daryl adds much ambiance to the proceedings too. Not to mention her charming giggles in between songs. Very sweet.

War of Man was a perfect song to end the session and the addition of the barnyard animals was a tasteful break from the fire. Hearing Harvest, Old Man and Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere with chickens clucking was a real treat for me. Absolutely perfect.

I feel we all share much gratitude to both Neil and Daryl for their incredible generosity putting these wonderful sessions together for us. They have been a meaningful and uplifting experience for my beautiful wife and myself during this global ordeal.

We all should also be grateful for Thrashers Wheat for providing this space to share our thoughts and experiences with each other.

Gratefulness is a healer. Music is a healer. Generosity is a healer. Love is a healer.

    Peace 🙏

  6. I think all of this, stuff goin on, effects the "Ordinary People" the most. How can that story be told at the fireside? There must be a train on the farm somewhere...along with the white falcon? I could live with that and be very, very happy. I cant believe im calling out a Neil song, sorry!

  7. This was really good and definitely my favourite of these so far. My toddler has been watching these with me most of the time before he goes to bed and this was his favourite with all the animals to watch! Haha.

He was a bit too excited making noise between Homegrown and Harvest that I think I missed Speakin' Out. Will have to go back and rewatch later.

I agree with the above comment too about Thrasher being one of his best acoustic tunes. Would love to see him bust that out one day with some birds flying around or something, and of course some fields and rivers in view. I wonder if he doesn't play it much because it's mostly a song digging at CSN? Too bad, cause it's such a vivid song, great imagery.

    Anyway, Barnyard Sessions was unreal!
